Last two Dallas drafts

We need to be aggressive in free agency and have a quality draft class.

Do that and we will contend next year. No matter what the bridge jumpers are yelling on their way down.

Denver 4-12
Lions 6-10
Niners 6-10
Bengals 4-12
Texans 6-10

All these teams made the postseason after earning these records in 2010. The NFL has such wild swings from year to year that people already saying we will suck next year have little credibility IMO.

I agree with your premise here. This year sucked at the end, but anybody who understands the game knew we had some glaring flaws going into the season.

8-8 is about right for this team, but our issues ARE fixable.

Dallas has 25 million in dead money AGAINST THE CAP next year, they have no money to go out and sign top free agent players to fit them under the cap and they're going have to cut more vets this offseason eating more money on the cap

Not true. The dead $$$ part is true, but Dallas has $20 mil+ of cap room and will gain more of it when they release Newman. Don't get me wrong, i'm not all that optimistic.....there are a lot of holes.

We need an overhaul on the interior of our line, two new defensive ends, and a corner and a safety.

That's 7 new starting players. Ouch.

I doubt that's doable with quality players in 1 off-season.

If we're lucky we can get 4 quality players this off-season, imo.

Exactly that's my whole point. We're quite a ways away.

Draft DeCastro or the best interior O-Line with the 1st. Cb/DLine in the 2nd/Free Agency.

Stronger O-Line will help everyone (RB, WR,Tony). Then we can address the defense with some cb who can actually cover and improve our passrush some.

Here are the picks the last 7 years at number 14, where the Cowboys will draft.

2011 - Rams - Robert Quinn DE
2010 - Seahawks - Earl Thomas FS
2009 - Saints - Malcolm Jenkins DB
2008 - Bears - Chris Williams OT
2007 - Jets - Darrelle Revis CB
2006 - Eagles - Brodrick Bunkley DT
2005 - Panthers - Thomas Davis DB

That's not even close to correct

Give me 1 Revis and you can throw away the rest of the draft.

Agreed. I think a little bit more addition by subtraction will be helpful this season as well.

No matter how we slice and dice it, it all comes down to one thing (or person). In the last umpteen years of SB or playoff failure what (or who) is the ONE constant here... Things won't change and he has said so already, he sees no reason to step back and let someone else run the show, anymore than he can see letting Newman go 2 years ago, or looking for a real DT and moving Rat to end, or REALLY fixing the interior of the OL. No folks until the psuedo Al Davis does a real Al Davis (RIP) personell may change, coaches may change, stadiums will be built and we will be still stuck with Mumbra the ever living and meciocracy. Well, thanks Cowboys... for nothing.

AAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

The last two drafts were pretty decent for top-line talent but still poor at replenishing depth.

The drafts from 2007-9 were horrifically bad and that is why we are in this bind now. Those players are supposed to be peaking and becoming stars in the league. All we have to show for it is Mike Jenkins, a COP back, a backup TE, a backup QB, a backup OLB.

That is terrible.

I laugh at all of you who think the problem with this team is coaching instead of drafting and cap management.

Glad someone on this board does some critical thinking.

I'll take a Revis and then Earl Thomas to replace any of our safeties....

I want a big, strong nose tackle. We have only tried one since I can remember, and he was a JAG- rookie who was just big.

I feel like the secondary is all we need help on.

Romo would like to see you in his office. He would like to bring up the idea of playing the QB position without running for his life all game long. Oh, he would also like to see some of that pressure applied to the opposing QB.

Our last two drafts have been pretty good, but not real deep. The drafts prior to that for several years have been horrible and that is one of the primary reasons we're in the shape we're in right now. I realize we definitely need some Oline help in the draft, but we should use our # 1 pick on the best CB available. Newman will be gone and we have to get a top notch player that can either start or greatly contribute right off the bat. Either that or sign a very good FA at corner. Guards and centers normally aren't drafted as high as # 14 in the draft. Don't get me wrong, we definitely have to upgrade the middle of our line, but I still think our secondary is the biggest problem. We also need another player that can rush the QB. Ware can't do it by himself every game.
