Last Week a Commanders Troll...

I understand your point. But when folks stop getting upset over losses, usually means the season is lost. People will respond to the Cowboy losses in their own way and that’s good, they have that right. And really, who cares? All that matters is the Cowboys on Sunday.
You know what EL? I never said I'm not upset. I am pretty well pissed off. I hate to lose.

I just find it ironic that when the Troll strolls in and asks if the season is over the response to him is a resounding, reverberating "no." Now, we got a couple of dozen regular posters who sound just like him.

There are 12 games left. Yeah, we got the big nasty this weak. Here comes the Boogie Man. I still say even if we lose this week it isn't nearly as big a deal as the doom and gloom.

The reason I say that is real simple. We have a lot of youth. They have some very serious talent. Anyone who thinks differently is daft. They are also still getting their feet wet.

A wise old cowboy once told me "it doesn't matter how much mud and dust you're kicking up in the front stretch. What matters is how much mud and dust you're kicking up on the back stretch and the drive for home."

I still see a lot of good things happening. 3 off sides penalties can't make me flush a player. A loss with 12 to go can't make me flush a season.

Players and teams are going to have bad games. Will I like it? Nope. Never have. Never will. I am big on letting people scream their doom and gloom. Even if I don't agree with them I'll defend their right to say it. This thread isn't about that. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for pulling out their hair and tearing their clothes. This is about me dealing with it and sharing that just like others can share their doom and gloom. Maybe how I say it rings a bell with someone, maybe it doesn't. I just want my right to speak too.

By all means feel free to keep the razor blades sharp if that's your thing 4 games into the season. Even if this season is a wash it won't bother me. For the most part I like the development and the direction. You go on watching the Loss column if that blows your skirt up. I got my eyes on the horizon. I still see good things in our future.

Whether that future is next week, 3 weeks away, or we are the last team in the playoff picture, as long as this team is ready in December, I'm good with how this year develops. I see 2006 as the focus anyway. It is set up to be the year we jump back into contention. 2005, all I'm asking for is progression.

4 games, all decided in the final 2 minutes. That's a team trying to find an identity while fate plays her cards. If this team were the chokers the Commanders Troll and some folks here seem to think we'd be 0-4. That's just a fact. It tells me 2-2 is too soon to give up and go hermit.

Always liked your posting style Hos. Nice job.

If the Commanders were playing like they currently are and1-2, I would still be pretty optimistic at this point. 0-3 not as much. But 2-2 ? Right in the thick of things. It is a long, season.

There was some pretty spirited response to him given there would still be 12 games left.

Did he get to some of you? Have you bought into his "nonsense" after the loss?

I still say there are 12 games left and this is a young team. There are going to be bumps in the road. I wanted 10-6 and a playoff spot. That is still very achievable. Even if the Eagles still own us this week.

I don't want to get too high or too low after a win or a loss. I just want to see a young team begin to gel and come together. Games that come down to the final 2 minutes to be decided will do that. It doesn't take much to start a snowball rolling down the hill. As it rolls it gets bigger. It may not hit all the pins at the bottom of the hill, but very few of us had the Super Bowl in mind for this year anyway.

Plenty of time. If I can be patient, so can you, because I am not a patient man when it comes to football. No excuses, we don't need them. No umbrellas for the falling sky either.

Commanders trolls are rarely right people. Somewhere between laughing at him and the loss it seems a few have forgotten that.

:hammock:

Relax.

This is one of the reasons I often take a hiatus for a day or two after a loss... at times like those, I rather like the trolls, they come in here and talk trash, and I swap insults with them, and I actually get to feeling better... but my fellow fans, well, some of them really hack me off with their Chicken Little "woe is me, the season is over" crap after EVERY loss...

So rather than snap on some of them, I don't even bother to read the boards for a day or two... generally, when I do come back to the boards, reason has started to reassert itself...

I think it's rather important that we win 2 of our next 3 games, if we harbor playoff aspirations... that would leave us at 4-3 after 7 weeks...

Exactly right...

You're not NEAR as stupid as Trickblue keeps tellin' me you are... :D

I do admire a fan of another team who can talk serious football, sans flame bait...

You know what Terp? The only teams that are out of it already are the teams who've adopted that mindset. I don't see any of them raising their hands.

I imagine many of us will be proven right by year's end on this predicition or that one. Hell, even a blind chicken gets a piece of corn now and then.

One team in NFL history (as far as I know) started a season 0-5 and still made the Super Bowl. 2-2 isn't the end of the world. Heck it isn't even a trend yet.

Relax.

6-6 and win 4 straight gets you to 10-6. We're probably going to have a bumpy road for at least half the season with our rookies. But the potential this team has for sacks and turnovers will eventually pay off.

My opinion as well David.

If this team were 0-4 after 4 straight games decided in the final 2 minutes I'd say they choke under pressure.

If we were 4-0, I'd say fate was on our side.

2-2 tells me it is a talented team with young players. Nothing earth shattering.

We are producing some turn overs and some pressures with a brand new defensive scheme depending on some younger players in key roles. We do have a few well known holes, but ones that can be covered up if the rest of the defense plays well enough.

The offense, as long as it stays healthy, is unlikely to be the reason that we lose too many games. It isn't mistake prone, other than some stupid penalties. But it also isn't going to make many huge plays.

We are a team playing on the razors edge. If we get a few breaks in the right way we will make the playoffs. If we get a few breaks going the wrong way then we could end up in the top 10 of the draft. Thats this NFL. Few teams are so good or so bad that a few breaks here and there differentiates the winners and the losers.

True and we have much more talent now than we did in 1990. We were 3-7, went on a roll, won 4 straight. We would have won out and finished 9-7, but Troy was hurt in the Iggle game, then the greatest of all QB's 'the Babe' promptlylost that game and the Falcons, we ended up 7-9.

Yeah, my balls are uncommonly perceptive...

They are not, however, crystal...
