Maybe he just isn't very good?

Wouldn't the coaching staff have NOTICED over the past 3 years that the guy they would be depending on to come out and run the offense if Big Ben goes down just isn't very good?

It really is a coaching staff fail either way. Either they don't have him ready or they should have known a long time ago they needed to upgrade their back up QB position

Lots of fans in PIT are starting to call for Tomlins head, believe it or not. He's very popular outside of PIT and to casuals, but he's starting to get a rep for being over rated ala McCarthy around NFL circles

Still amazes me how many teams simply do not have a back up QB of any real capability ready to come in and run their offense if the starter goes down.

I know we've had this same problem just last year, assuming Weeden could at least drive the bus competently for us.

Belichick had Garrapollo who was playing at an extremly high level before getting hurt, then won games with Brissett.
