The real problem is they owe Alex Smith guaranteed money the next two seasons to the tune of 20 mil a season. They can't catch a break. I'm betting they draft a QB because that's all the can afford.

Smith is 20 mil a season for two more years and Colt is 2 mil a season for two more years.

They have little choice.

Smith's leg was shattered. He is not coming back any time soon.

They have nothing else at the position.

There is not much else they can say right now other than they are counting on McCoy.

Doubt they could afford another FA QB with smith
He may never return or may not be the same player if he does
I feel sorry for him but atleast he’s making good money
