Roy Williams & Greg Ellis are not franchise players. Neither was LaVar.
It won't be that hard saying goodbye to him.

Jerry's released Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith who are both EONS better and more important to the franchise than any of the guys you mentioned, so he doesnt have a problem cutting the ties.

both players had to be cut for cap reasons, more so aikman than smith

bill parcells didnt want smith, otherwise he would have stayed

I have already said goodbye to both of them and it did not hurt one little bit.
Hope the door hits Ellis on the butt on the way out so he can whine about it.:laugh2:

One of the few bonehead moves I really didn't agree with Bill on. He got rid of Emmitt and kept a guy who couldn't even beat out Emmitt when he was on the clear downside of his career.

He had a solid first year going in Arizona, before Roy (OH MY GOD NOT ROY) KO'ed him for most of the rest of that year and then his second year there he got almost 1000 yards rushing and scored I believe 10 rushing TDs on a really bad Arizona team.

He had a couple years of work left in him and he'd have suited us much better than the losers that BP had here to supposedly replace him with.

Emmitt would have cost a lot for Dallas to keep around. He was great in his day, but his day was not in his last two seasons. You just can't pay a lot for a back who played for 13 years. It had nothing to do with whether Hambrick was a capable back or not. The decision was based on whether Emmitt was worth the money he wanted to sign another contract in Dallas.

Emmitt was on pace for just under 800 yards and a 3.3 average in 2003 before he got injured in Dallas. That would not have been good enough in Dallas. I loved what Emmitt gave to Dallas, but he reached a point where he was not worth the money he wanted. Fortunately Dallas did not have to cut him. He was a free agent and Dallas did not re-sign him.
