Laveranues Coles

Super Bowl Champions--Amani Toomer 33 years old Plax Burress 31 years old...you have a chance to get Coles for cheap you do it. They can draft another receiver in the mid rounds and hope he develops.

So you're telling me they won because they had old receivers, and not because they got to Brady? Hell, Steve Smith and David Tyree had bigger catches than Plax and Amani that game.

:hammer: they had 2, 2nd round picks at WR, one is looking like a bust, Sinorice Moss, and Steve Smith played a small role

again, we already are developing young WRs, and we can take another one, but it's highly doubtful that he's going to play a large role in our quest for a Super Bowl

I disagree. Steve Smith played a big role for them, he had some key catches against us and against New England. Moss, like Santana, will probably need a few years to learn how to play in the NFL.

While I agree with you to a certain extent, I'm pretty sure the game winner to Plax could qualify as the most important catch.

Perhaps, but there is possibly no game winner to Plaxico if Tyree doesn't make his catch.

The Same way Peyton has Harrison i want a Franchise WR to go alongside of Tony Romo.

Don't forget Wayne!!!

True. Tyree's catch was absolutely amazing and will be re-run from here to eternity. But, it wasn't the game clincher. The catch came on 3rd and 6. The way that the Giants were moving the ball it's not outside the realm of possibility that they would have converted the 4th down. As big as Tyree's catch was (and it was HUGE) it didn't win them the game.

eh, they probably still win the Super Bowl w/o him

Hes 30 years old and doesnt have an injury history. It is not unreasonable to expect 3 highly productive years out of him with a year or two after that at a pretty decent level.

Like I said Dallas needs a WR that knows how to make all the catches and can get deep too... Coles is that kind of player in my eyes.

Ok, so according to most of you..

We can get Coles and have a perfect fit next to TO, but hes too old so we should draft a reciever, plug him into number 3, and hope hes not a bust?

Roy Williams would be an ok option, but in my opinion Coles would be a much cheaper option plus a better fit

Pick up a receiver in the 3rd or 4th round and groom him behind Coles along with Stanback. We will get 3 years of production.

Young is always a plus, but you guys forget, we aren't rebuilding. We are ready to contend for the Superbowl right now.

Here's the thing -- if the Jets were to trade Coles it would probably take no more than a 2nd or 3rd. It wouldn't surprise me if he were to go for a 4th. I'd take him for anything below a 2nd. He's 31, which means (as has been said) he has potentially three good seasons left in him. I'd take three seasons. We may need a #1 receiver next season. You never know what can happen with a 35 year old WR like TO. One injury and his career is over.

No, but without Plax they DON"T GET TO THE SUPER BOWL...did you watch the Green Bay game???? The guy was playing on one foot and was a monster all year...they don't even make the playoffs without him.
All I am saying is that your wr's take time to develop, there is very little chance we draft one who impacts the team right away...it's not impossible, just less likely and certainly not as much as Lav Coles.

I thought this thread was about Lavernaueus Coles?

His toe injury is way to scary for me.. he re-injures it constantly and it has a big effect on his game. I don't think it will ever be 100% and the risk is just too high for re-injury mid-year.

I would find the quickest FA WR available.. not fastest.. quickest.. similar to TG or Wes Welker type... Santana Moss

I'm not saying Plax wasn't huge for them, I'm saying that the fact that they had two old receivers is not why they won the Superbowl.

I'm tired of the Cowboys thinking short term, we've brought in enough old guys. I nearly quit watching football when we had Vinny, and then Bledsoe. I've had enough. I don't want any more old guys brought in to be anything other than role players. If we're going after a WR, go after a younger guy.

I'd rather have Bernard Berrian, at this point, than Coles.

look, I love Berrian, but he told a local radio station that he wants a big contract, are you willing to give that to a at best, #2 receiver?

IMO, we've put off the present long enough, we have one of the youngest teams in the league, 3rd youngest seperated by about .03 in age difference from the youngest team, we should be done rebuilding and talking about competing for a ring, and actually do it, getting a player such as Coles will allow us to take that next step, including getting a better #3 corner in

trading for a Coles doesn't preclude us from drafting a WR high, as TO and Coles aren't going to be playing at high levels for much longer, and right now we still don't have the future here, we can trade for Coles, and draft a younger receiver on the 1st Day, and dont' forget we already have a speed demon in Austin

Of course he WANTS a big contract, no young receiver says they want a medium sized or small contract. The problem is that Coles isn't going to want chump change either. So we'll head into next season Paying T.O., paying Glenn (since I bet he'll try to come back), paying Coles, and paying a high WR draft pick? That's a lot of cash either way.

As far as Miles, I've seen nothing from him that tells me he should be on this roster next year except in kick returns.

Coles > Berrian

I doubt we keep Glenn

you should watch more than those 2 drops, the guy has size, speed, and is smooth in his routes
