Lawrence: Daily Battles With Smith Will Eventually Pay Off

I can't say I disagree with this. We would have gotten 3 sure fire starters. It's painful for me to say that too because I have a bro crush on Martin. The realist in me won't let my emotions get in the way of sound logic though.

I am in the same boat but have Martin ranked slightly higher because of his ability to swing out tackle next season (at least I hope that is the plan). Hopefully get that Free stench outta there. I hear XWalker's point though and it is a good one.

I just like the idea of 3 starters vs 2 on a team full of holes and with no chance of competing right now.

This is also very true with the defense that the team will likely field. In the long run, Lawrence is more critical to the success of the team than Martin is (short term anyway with lacking talent on D). Another defender (outside of CB) would've been great to have in the 2nd with Turner taking over one of the starting G spots. Draft a real tackle next season, etc.

You're saying that as if it's gospel when none of us can tell the future. It's your opinion that we're a losing team who isn't going anywhere, but it's exactly that; an opinion. I say we can compete.

It is gospel, you just don't realize it. You think this team can compete for a super bowl.. seriously?

When I have seen a 2011 Giants team that had more holes than swiss cheese sit at 4-7 at week 11 then run to a super bowl win, I'm not counting us out. Be completely honest with yourself when they were 3 games under 500 did you see them seriously competing for a super bowl? That's why you play the game ufcrules1. Any given Sunday

I don't know what Dallas will do I do know they got the guy they wanted. As Gil Brandt once said if you like a guy sometimes you got to go get him. No doubt you have no hope for the season Dallas does not feel that way.

They did not have more holes than swiss cheese. That team is twice the team ours is right now. Yes, they played bad early and then got hot late and made an awesome run, but that team had the talent all over the place, especially the defensive line. I can't believe you would try to compare them with our team. The team that had the worst defense in the whole NFL last year. Yes, if all the good teams out there died in plane crashes we would have a shot.

You are suffering from revisionist history right now. There wasn't a single pundit that entire year that picked that team as a contender and you know it. We would flat out wreck that Giants team from 2011 if we played them this year. The only talent that team had was on the D line plus the emergence of Cruz. Oh and in case you forgot Terrance hurdle Newman was back there then and that was before Scandrick had gotten his stride. Oh and one more thing that Giants team had the 26th ranked defense that year so yeahhh they are so much more talented than the cowboys and how dare I compare us to that excellent team......

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and put you on ignore now so I won't have to see any more of your posts. No offense, my time is just limited.

I want to see how he does against Tyron with pads on. Defense usually has the advantage with no pads and no full contact. If he goes even with pads on then that will shot a lot more.

line practices without pads means NOTHING.

From what I've heard he's not really giving Tyron too much trouble. The last report I heard was that Tyron was pretty much giving him nothing and the beat reporter was kind of concerned that Lawrence would lose motivation because of it.

I don't think that's a bad sign. Tyron is a tough, tough match-up for any pass rusher.
Could you show us where and who said that Tyron is handling DLaw?

So, you think the Cowboys have no chance of competing? Sounds right coming from you. If a troll made that remark, I could understand it...now I really understand it.

I know you have not bee here long...but you just got the best "ignore" on this forum. He does not like dissent, unless it comes from him!

What a pathetic thing to say!

I found this comment by Marinelli very encouraging. Looking forward to seeing him when the pads come on

“This kid has some strength to him,” defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said. “He’s a lot stronger than I thought he was. He’s got some power moves that he uses to his advantage. You don’t always see that from young guys. They have to get in (the weight room) and eventually it’s something they can add to their game. But he’s got that power right now. I think that’s going to help him this year.”

That's going to be huge for him as a rookie. He might not have all of the edge or speed or inside moves, but if sometimes he can just rely on raw power and find success with it, it'll pay dividends.

Great stuff. Can't wait to see the preseason games.
