Lawrence, Herbert, Burrow and Allen a combined 2-6?

OP hit it on the head. The problem is no player, even Mahomes is worth the money these quarterbacks are making. You need a great receiver and defender to balance your team out.

You and i have had our differences about Dak. Hes been playing very well this year :starspin:

I helps when some idiot is calling 4 wide curls all on the same yard line. Amazing what a rub route and a shred of separation will do for a qb.

This fallacy is a byproduct of believing team records are applicable to one player. The argument can be made for baseball, where pitchers on the mound, individually face-off with each member of the opposing team batting at home plate. That team sport is basically the exception.

The individual/team record thing is rarely (if ever) applied to golf. "It's over! It's over! This win puts Rory McIlroy at 5-1 in Ryder Cup championships! European fans are going crazy!!!"

Some people will never accept it. Quarterbacks will always be the sole reason why teams win in their opinion.

Yeah this QB salary thing is starting to really freak me out. I mean 20% (or more) of your salary cap to one player on a roster of 53 is just stupid. I don't know where this headed but it bothers me. Even when Dak comes up I hope somebody gets in his ear and says "Look dude you have made enough money for three lifetimes, what you need is some jewelry, and you won't get it being the highest paid yadda yadda yadda for 5 minutes... How are you gonna feel when Micah Parsons signs somewhere else because you're eating up 20% of the cap?"

It gave me great pleasure yesterday to se that the usuals were absent from the normal sunday chatter. One returned when he was called but he was absent prior. We will hear crickets from the till our QB falters or they read this and feel it necessary to blab something.

I TOLD yall!!! They run and hide after our victories and then slither out of their parents basements to post all week after our losses.

This is why I call them "low IQ Dak hatin, weak *** cowards". I can guarantee you these same weaklings are cowards in real life as well.

We all know who they are!!

I don’t think it will be the Cowboys because I don’t think Jerry wants to disrupt the gravy train but some team is going to pass on paying their franchise quarterback in the near future.

It's a team sport. That's why when fans suggest Burrows is "a stud" I reserve judgment because when they're successful they have a pretty good team. Same with Herbert. Bothe excellent young QBs with a ton of ceiling, but not exactly "studs."
McCarthy got us looking balanced!
McCarthy is working his magic...

With the proliferation of these spread and pistol offenses, all of which came up from the high school level to college then from college to pro I think the transition from college to pro is going to get easier and easier for these kids. That will mean that even QBs will become easier to replace. Not that it will ever be "easy" and yes you pay the piper if you get a generational talent but this business of paying guys like Daniel Jones 40 million a year but you won't pay Saquon, you know the guy who accounted for like 70% of your offense, 15 million a year has to stop. It's insanity.

College football appears to have like 10 quarterbacks that are draft eligible that will have 1st and 2nd round grades. Guys like Matt Jones and Fields may not get their 5th year options picked up. That was unheard of two years ago.

These QBs that some have been assuring us are about to take over the league have a batting average of .250 right now? I guess that's good if you're a shortstop or a catcher but damn. I know that it's early in the season so there's time for things to turn around but damn. Burrow is pressing after the 50 million dollar a year contract so I expect him to calm down. Herbert is the new victim of the Kellen Moore curse. Lots of stats, no flow to the offense. Lawrence and Allen? Frankly neither has looked all that great even in their wins. Definitely something that bears watching.
Who cares

Funny how this narrative only applies to the "golden boys" of the NFL. The others? Get absolutely zero of these excuses.

Say what you want about Herbert's defense letting him down but he's had the ball back to back weeks with a chance to win the game and failed. Same thing in the playoffs last season. He's Romo 2.0. Hollow stats but fails when it matters most.
They love to defend Herbert man….after all offseason telling us Moore will make them contenders.

Yeah it's just a matter of time before teams wake up and stop panic paying these middling QBs top tier money. Much as I love Dak, even he would have been better served to take 30-35 million a year and allow the Cowboys to build a better team around him. All this posturing to be the highest paid knowing that it's only going to last about 5 minutes makes zero sense to me. But I do think the fact that guys like Winston, Haskins (RIP), Mariota, Gabbert, Bortles, Goff Wentz, Carr etc have been sent packing by the teams that drafted them shows that teams MIGHT be figuring it out. Even our friend Trey Lance got jettisoned by a really good team. Hopefully more teams wake up to this insanity about breaking the bank for one player like that.

I'm not looking to knock Moore or Herbert I thought they were both fine for most of the game, but what I observed during yesterday's play in overtime was when they had the ball Herbert threw 3 straight long passes and had to punt. Personally, I think this is what Big Mac wanted to change about the offense and the play timing as it relates to the game situation.

Mahomes is Mahomes. He won the Super Bowl the same season he lost the NFL's best WR.
He reads zones better than anyone and if you go man he hits Kelce or runs the ball himself.
Its absurd.

Everyone else is just a good QB.
Herbert is interesting because on paper he's great but in games he does everything well except win games.
Watching him is weird because he makes A++ throws then when game is over you feel like something was missing.
Burrow is great but he starts seasons very slowly putting his team behind the 8 ball in the playoff chase.

Allen is last year's Dak. He is bound and determined to make big plays and it looks great when he does but it really hurts when he turns it over.
Was always wild people pretended that last year was how Dak plays regularly.
Lawrence has been the most overrated QB in football since his sophomore season in college.
He has very real skill (arm strength, size and top end speed) but he is no-where near as accurate or quick minded as people pretend(ed).
Still a winning player if they can get a true play action passing offense going. But his release and footwork are not meant for off script execution and being Matt Ryan 2.0 is tough in this era of football.

You'd still EASILY take these QBs over the league average.

QB salary isn't much an issue when almost everyone is doing it.
SF is a pretty rare exception but then again they have lost the conf finals 2 years in a row and won only 6 games the year prior to that run so not exactly a team to emulate... YET.
Philly had a good 2 year run with Jalen but he wasn't cheap for long.
And I'd rather pay my guy 40M than watch Justin Fields play QB. ((sorry Ohio State and Bears fans))
