Demarcus Lawrence's consecutive sack streak ends at 7 games yesterday.

However the watch isnt off, it just shifts to David Irving who has pushed his streak to 4 consecutive games with a sack

If I had to choose I prefer pressure up the middle, no pocket for QB to step up into. Also Irving length makes it hard for QBs to see and throw into passing lanes.

It’s so refreshing to see a pass rush. Brings me back to the D-Ware and Greg Ellis days. If Lee can stay healthy we actually have a respectable defense

Whats kind of funny is that he is lining up at the 3 Tech spot. Reminds me of when Jason Hatcher didnt fit the physical dimensions of a 3 Tech then went on to have his only Pro Bowl season

They need to star a new streak where they get 1.5 sacks each per game or more. All the way through February.

By the way, say it with me again. No pass rush, no pass defense.

Are you a believer yet?

I think Romo mentioned like 6 or 7 times in the 4th quarter that our secondary is pretty bad lol

Agreed. He's gotten his hand on quite a few passes already, too.

Irving plays with a motor that we haven't seen since...I dunno how long! Ware was great with his physical tools and skills/technique but even I don't think he ever had that motor.

I'm not sure about that. I remember plenty of times they called Ware for being offsides but when you look at the replay he just got a perfect jump on the ball. That was a pretty quick motor.

So are we still signing Ware back for the stretch run?

It's absolutely awesome that we're getting incredible pass rush from guys who were already on the roster.

No huge FA signing.

No crazy trade up in the draft.

Guys on the roster proving their value after being in the league for a few years. Good stuff.

Let's see about his motor down the stretch. He faded when we needed him in the Packers game.
Maybe four weeks off will help.

He might have not had a sack but he made Fitzgerald, or whatever his name is, the highlight of KC's Olines coaches meeting this week! Poor guy. His pressure alone made Alex nervous all day and it showed.

Pass rush finally taking shape. Took longer than expected but it's nice it has finally arrived.

I'm loving having a rush that can get to the QB. Lack of a pass rush has been this team's weakness for a long time. Now it's actually becoming a strength.

It is funny. Typically those taller guys have a hard time getting leverage at the tackle position because those squatty, powerful guards are basically taught to get that leverage.

That is a benefit of the Marinelli scheme, the 3T assignment is meant to shoot the gap, so height isn't a big factor, as long as they get off the ball and can get "skinny". In fact, height could be an advantage, where normally it'd be an obvious disadvantage. He has developed nicely, kudos to him and the defensive staff.

A little off topic, but when Taco gets his feet under him (quite literally ha ha), I wouldn't be surprised if he was able to rotate in at the 3 as well, in relief or in a passing package next to Irving.

Irving was a great find and we're getting him for an absolute steal this season and next. I'd almost be tempted to offer him a deal this offseason instead of waiting for him to hit FA in 2019. He might be tempted to take the money now, and we could get a deal, opposed to waiting a year and having no guarantee against injury.
