Adam Shefter of ESPN has reported via twitter tha New York Giantd great Lawrence Taylor has been arrested in a rape investigation.According to the report, Taylor was taken into custody by the Town of Ramapo police after being accused of raping someone in the Holiday Inn Holidome Hotel in Suffern.

Few details are available, but the alleged rape is said to have occurred early Thursday morning, and police are expected to give more information at a news conference on Thursday afternoon.

Hall of Famer Taylor arrested for rape

Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested early Thursday after being accused of rape at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y., police said.

Authorities in Ramapo, N.Y., have not released details in their investigation of Taylor, saying only that the incident allegedly occurred in the Holidome Hotel.

According to a press release, additional information will be provided at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Taylor, who starred for the New York Giants for 13 seasons, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. He has battled drug addiction and last November was charged in Florida with leaving the scene of an accident.

...for some reason or another, I've never been able to dislike LT. Even with his team, his drug abuse, and his ugly mug....I've always found him personable. Maybe its because he broke Thiesman's leg...

He was on a show about addiction this past Monday. He admitted to smoking crack throughout most of his Hall of Fame career. Used to arrive to practice and games just minutes before and put his head in a bucket of ice to wake himself up.
