Defense, as a whole last season, we all know it wasn’t very good, some people play better in system rather as individuals, he could shine who knows, it’s going to be an interesting preseason and season

CP was only hired as a DC for the first time only 7 months ago but that hasn't stopped them sculpting his bust in Canton.

James was a guy that really needed a redshirt season, and Murray and Sanborn's ineptitude didn't give him one.

He should be better for the experience, as long as it didn't destroy his confidence.

I disproved the narrative that Schottenheimer is nothing more than a puppet, and these particular comments were a response to a ridiculous comment that Eberflus somehow punked him.

There’s a crowd who ridiculed Schottenheimer from the day he was hired and most of it had nothing to do with football.

No one since Jimmy has jettisoned one of Jerry’s chosen favorite sons in 30 years.

It doesn’t fit the narrative that he’s jsut a bootlicker with no balls.

I didn’t even get into a Christian Parker, which is 100% Schottenheimer’s move.

You can probably attribute Downs as well.

People think because he’s not angry all the time that he isn’t his own man.

If you want a coach like Jimmy or Belichik, keep dreaming. Not only has that coaching style passed into history, it would never work with Jerry.

Success on the field absolutely remains to be seen, but a Schottenheimer has already proven that he has the exceedlingly rare ability to work for Jerry, limit and control him, as much as possible, and he’s done it without getting us his feelings about his own ego.

Eber called off man cover zones almost every play.

At the end of that mess, I wanted Shotty to take over the D play calling.

Eber basically wrecked the season. And Shotty let it happen.

It’s not hard to figure out.

What you’ve described doesn’t happen in the NFL.

Imagine Mike McDonald calling the Seahawks offensive plays or DeMeco Ryan’s doing it in Houston

And there is absolutely no way a rookie head coach is going to be allowed to fire his defensive coordinator six weeks into a season,

If he's the head coach he's had all off season & 6 weeks of the season to make a determination that the guy wasn't cutting it. I'm assuming others in the building, including players, weren't seeing it either. Seems like it should be within his wheelhouse to fire him whether he's a rookie or not.

At the least, take the play calling away from Eber.

Wouldn’t be the first DC to lose play calling.

Sorry, missed that part. I’m sure he had an idea but under Jerry’s regime theirs nothing he could do. We don’t know what all went on behind closed doors during that time so it’s naive and reckless to assume he said nothing.

it can happen but it’s extremely rare.

combine that the the most egomaniacal GM (owner) in the league and it would have been just too much.

I think fans need a fall down on their knees in thanks that Eberflus was ever fired and even more so that Christian Parker, and not some crusty old retread, was given the DC job by Jerry.

We have Schottenheimer to thank for that

We still have no idea if he is going to be able to win as a head coach. He may fail. What he has been able to do, that hasn’t been done by anyone since Parcells, is manage to have a relationship with Jerry where the head coach is manage up and handle the idiots that run the team.
