Everyone thinks we're going CB, WR, or RB in the first... But I have a feeling we're going to get a curve ball like this.

Which, BTW, I love. We need the best players we can get, and if that's an excellent LB or guard or safety, so be it.

I thought as soon as Wade came in that he'd want more "traditional" LBs who can run all over the field rather than the big slow thumpers that Parcells preferred.

Rivers is a flippin stud that actually plays with some emotion unlike 2/3's of our D.

Would love to have him and his intensity. You cant teach talent and talent always finds it way to the field.

I was wrong about Sweed and his perceived lack of speed. But, Rivers would be a great addition. His positon coach has taught him well.

Draft the guy that's highest on your board when your pick comes up, or if it's a position you absolutely can't use (i.e. a QB in the first round when you hope your starter takes 100% of the meaningful snaps for the next 6 seasons), try to trade down if there's enough equally rated players.

I'd love for Dallas to pick a guy that they have rated in the top 10 and figure out how to get him on the field instead of just settling for the 5th or 6th rated CB on their board who happens to carry a second round grade. The draft isn't just about the next 16 games, it's about the next 3-5 years.

Funny how many preach this but don't have the balls to stick to that approach when draft time rolls around.

You can't call Spencer a bust, the kid had like 3 sacks in a situational roll as a rookie, that's pretty good.

Carpenter on the other hand is a bust to me...

And every game I watched this yr, those other two LB's stood out more than Rivers did...only 3 career sacks...only a few passes defensed...only two ints, not many tackles for loss

he wouldnt be an awful pick where we're drafting at, but the lack of plays worries me a little

ILBs in a 34 need to cover. We have a lack of that. Rivers does not suck at covering.

I am right with you Choc. I would love this pick if he is there. We need more athleticism to our Lber core especially inside and he gives us that.
