yea, except I've come to find that 9 times out of 10, those who dish it out the most take it the least well. they usually change topics, goals, outcomes, to fit their views.

I think that the addition of Martin (who should get votes in the RoY voting) made it possible. Not saying that this philosophy wouldn't have worked last year but they didn't have the confidence last year that they had going into the season this year.

Martin and Frederick definitely changed the personality (and talent) of that line. Get a nasty interior and it carries over.

For the record, this thread was more about the media than people here. If it applied to you then fine. The leadership of this team was frequently questioned when things weren't going well. Coaches like Garrett and vets like Romo and Witten were typicalt targets. Well, here are those same leaders leading the team with the best record in the NFL. I would think most Cowboys fans would be loving every minute of of this, including watching their QB finish the season as the highest rated passer in football. If you have issues with my post it's probably because you were wrong about some things and are angry about having to read about it. Too bad. I've read plenty of overly critical nonsense for years here. If you're a Cowboys fan your joy should outweight any frustrations of having been wrong. Hell I love when I'm wrong about a player that I don't think will play well for Dallas and does.

Leadership on this team WAS a major issue for this team forever, and to deny it is revisionism.

Austin, Rat, Barber, Ware, RW31, TNew, Romo, Witten, James, T.O., Crayton, Spencer, etc. were the Core players for years, and for years we did little from a team standpoint. Geez, these guys quit on Wade.

Most of these guys (TNew, Ware, Romo, Witten) were lead by example players, some of the others were malcontents or cancers (T.O., Crayton, Rat), and some fancied themselves as leaders (James, RW), but weren't great enough to have followers or just weren't good at it.

For years, fans, myself included, felt that this team had a true leadership void and were summarily mocked. Remember Brooking stepping in as a real leader within weeks when James, Ware, etc. were already here? I don't think it's a coincidence that we're a MUCH BETTER team now than in recent years with most of them gone.

Yes, Romo and Witten are still here, but I'd argue that Dez, Lee, McClain (in a very short time), Fred and even OScan are the players who have changed the culture of this team for the better.

Admittedly, Romo and Witten (especially) have grown to become better leaders, but IMO, it's the younger guys who have put this team over the top mentally and brought some fight to this team.

I particularly enjoy reading posts where people act like they were right all along because Dallas is playing well now despite the fact they were dead wrong about the players they were arguing about,,, Costa for instance. LOL

No doubt some people's negative "analysis" were just about them being negative, but an honest look back at what was being discussed would reveal some of the realists were right, particularly the ones talking about the OL and DL.

He wouldn't need to rub their noses in it, if the guilty parties hadn't made The Zone hell for so many of us. It's no coincidence that many Zoners starting posting less and even visiting this site less. It was no fun and not because of the product on the field. It was because it was impossible to discuss the Cowboys without a bunch of Negative Nancys marauding under the guise of realism. Every Cowboys fan knew the team needed to improve in every way, but having our own fans try to make us feel bad about being Cowboys fans was sickening. I'm not the call out type, but I understand 100% why someone would want to inflict some of that same pain on those who are guilty. Once we get that out of our systems, hopefully we can all come together and root for the Dallas Cowboys who have a chance to do something special this season. Whoo! I hope we win on Sunday so we can continue this positive vibe. These last 4 weeks have been pure heaven. I don't want it to stop.

I could get into a long diatribe about your argument being half the coin and there are some people who have been fans long enough they don't need hope, but a dose of reality. You label reality in a negative way. You parse out blame and accountability to those who feel this way as if they are purposely trying to ruin your day.

Well Heaven forbid I ever tell you your dress makes you look fat. It's called thick skin and being adult enough to discuss all aspects and not just cherry pick the ones that make you feel good about a team that has not been good for quite a while.

I think for the longest time, and I think Parcells said it, there were a lot of "dumb" players on the team. I do not think it was dumb as in low IQ, but dumb in the way of team football. The dictator did not work and neither did cupcake but garret found a middle ground the resonates with the players while maintain control but not micromanagement. BP was aloof except to certain players, could be prickly to other players, wade treated players like they were at grandpa's house. Garrett does things differently he found a way that makes the team hold each other accountable.

With ware and hatcher outta the way I think some of the other guys like dez and murray and mincey and free can take bigger roles in leadership. Which is a good thing. They aren't so passive.

I wasn't referring to the people who offered possible solutions to what the Cowboys were doing. I'm talking about people who berated anyone who had the audacity to say something positive about the Cowboys or look forward to the future. They know who they are.

True.

But then there are those who berate others that are just stating their opinions that may be perceived as negative. It goes both ways. Total agreement makes for a boring message board.

If you read my post again you'll see I'm talking about those who post under the "guise" of reality. There are posters here who hate to see Cowboys fans happy. I was referring to them. They know who they are. They haven't posted as much lately.

We don't have to agree, but you shouldn't get mad when a fan of a team is happy about a win or optimistic about the future. I was referring to a segment of posters who were intentionally trying to lower morale here. If that's not you, then it wasn't about you. Rational debate is wonderful. These people were not rational. I'm glad that winning has quieted some of them.

Lee hasn't been here long enough to be lumped in with the past good to great players considered leaders here. He was not a leader over them he was just one of the followers of their type of leadership style. The way Ware, Ratliff, and others from those teams behaved was the way the Brady Gang showed them; which is why they needed to be gone before a new identity could be established. JMO

The beauty of it is, it could very well be a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians scenario.

Dallas has the right guys leading and the right guys listening.

It really is a delicate balance of the two that makes it work. Every athlete performs his responsibility knowing that's what makes the wheel spin.

This is a special event ladies and gentlemen.

53 MEN putting egos aside. Nothing short of a miracle.......
