Stats about the Cowboys wins in division and out of division since 2016 (10 Years).

On average across those 10 years:

We won 70% of our Division games.
We won 50% of our Non-Division games.

About 9 wins a season across that span. Closer to 9.5 but lets keep it at a round 9.

The Cowboys have Feasted in the division since 2016 almost winning 2/3 of their games.
Most of that 20% gap from 50% to 70% has come from feasting on the Giants/Commanders. As we are about 50/50 with the eagles since 2016.

Giants
We know why the Giants have been a poor team during that span. Now they are getting a legit coach that has a proven track record of not having a losing record and playing his division opponents tough. Up and coming good QB, great RB, solid defense, the Giants are going to be an average to good team in the next 2 years. Which is a big improvement. They could be better, but at the minimum I see them going 8-9 or 9-8 next season and trending up.

Commanders
We know why the Commanders have been a poor team during that span, except for 2024, which was DQ and JD's rookie seasons and they went 12-5. JD was out most of this season and DQ has an aging team on both sides of the ball. They will start replacing/replenishing through the draft and JD will be healthy again. DQ's HC stats are about 50/50. Again, lets assume they are back to 9-8 next year but trending up.

Eagles
The Eagle's are not going anywhere. They will get an OC that fits the system they are trying to run up there and will be back again for the next few years at least. Not trending up but not down either.

So if you have made it this far, all of this is to state that it is highly likely we will see that 70% number come back down to a 50% average over the next 2 years and possibly worse. Meaning they will lose 1 more game a season to divisional opponents which will bring their average wins a season to 8 making them an 8-9 team.

We unfortunately didn't take advantage when we had the opportunity and now it is going to be a much more competitive division for the foreseeable future. Even if we are a better team next year, fix the defense and Dak continues to play well, we are going to have a harder time making the playoffs. Get ready for some leaner times.

Great post. The additional killer is the rest of the conference is so much better at QB than when we were beating up on the sisters of the poor and winning 12 games. There are so many young QBs now that all have promise, even if they won't all pan out.

Get ready for some leaner times.
It's ok we have a secret weapon.

Im not sure Harbaugh can work miracles how some seem to believe. I think the Commanders are 1 year away from hiring a head coach again, may be Tomlin would take it after a year off. Siriani was supposed to be a offensive ge it's yet Hurts is now heading towards his 4 or 5th OC after the firing of the OC. I think other teams are a mess just like Dallas but Dallas is in a worse situation.

I've been here for 55 years, I think I'm used to it by now.

Other teams we face also have a weapon and it ain't so secret. Enter one Jerry Jones.

A great draft a great DC hire and a great UFA summer can flip that.

The point of my post, is that even if we improve, we are in a tougher division and we aren't going to see noticeable gains and we might end up in a division similar to the NFC north and west. Where 10 wins doesn't get you in.

What are you basing your opinion off for the commanders? You know they were 12-5 last year. Jayden played like 5 games this year. It's a very silly take and I see others around here staying it. The commanders will bounce back and continue being a good team next year.

Harbaugh, again what are you basing this off of? Let's just use math since that's not based out of opinion. He's 15-3 in his last 18 seasons for not having a losing season. That transcends multiple players and QBs. He clearly knows how to keep a competitive team. So at the very least, he is going to add 4-5 wins next season and probably more.

The eagles have 2 SB wins in 7 years, 3 SB visits. They have the infrastructure to build successful teams. Hurts is not a mahomes but they can win with him with the same formula they have been. Build a good defense and have a solid running game. Their OL is the reason they crashed this year. They are the cream of the crop in our division right now and saying otherwise is false.

Look man, I am down on this team and am apathetic as the next guy.

But my god. This place is unbearable at times. Please quit acting like they just signed a prime Vince Lombardi.

Harbaugh couldn’t win with an MVP Qb and stacked defense every year

I agree. The dysfunction is getting worse. They are a cheap team. Like the Bengals. Hubris blinds them. Dollar General Head Coach. Better division. I think this is a 5 to 8 win team over the next few years.

The concern is the Cowboys and Giants don’t have an MVP quarterback, neither has a stacked defense, but the Giants do have an experienced NFL Head Coach who has had success in his career and was very much in demand. The Cowboys have a head coach no one else wanted. Everyone can do the math.
