What do you think the probabilities are that Leary will be traded for a pick, or in a trade up for a pick?

Leary is a very valuable player for us no doubt. I wouldn't want to see us just trade him off for a bag of magic beans, for sure.

16.37%.

I think any trade of a current player is unlikely, but if it happened I actually think La'el Collins could be the guy traded because he could play any OG or OT position. Plugging a hole at LT is a lot more valuable than a OG position.

I would say it unlikely. Only because a team can probably grab a starting caliber G in this years draft with a 2nd or 3rd pick and save a ton of money over Leary's salary. With that said, I am happy to have him. Nice insurance. I wish we were as stacked at other positions.

If a team really has a lot of holes to fill and has a glaring hole at guard, I could see Dallas being able to swap picks with the other team to move up and trade pick for pick plus Leary. The other team gets an instant starter at guard in Leary and still might be able to get a starter with the traded pick. In return Dallas would get the targeted player.

That is generally an unlikely scenario, but Leary is an obvious candidate for such a trade due to his youth, talent level, and our riches at the position.

So keep a guy with degenerative knee issues and tRade a guy who looked like Larry Allen at timeS last season? Is that the premise of your comment?

15-20% chance.

I think the odds are probably in the 20 to 25 percent range. If we had this same scenario over 4 or 5 drafts it would probably happen once in that time period. I would not want to give up Leary to move up any later than the 2rd round nor trade him for less than a 3rd round pick. So in my world, it probably wouldn't happen either. LOL

True, but they can't use the pick twice two fill two holes. If they acquired a pick plus Leary you know what you are getting with Leary.

Sure, but filling a hole at OG isn't hard. Filling a hole at LT is very hard and it wouldn't be a stretch for a team that missed out on their primary targets to trade a mid to low first round pick for a guy like Collins. Would you swap Collins for Noah Spence if he was still available at say, pick 22?

Knowing Leary could step right back into the OG spot, I could see it happening. Not saying its likely because I think any draft day trade is unlikely. But I could see a team overpaying for Collins but not Leary.

No, the premise of my comment is that hyperbole makes its way into every thread. Collins is a good player with a bright future, but he looked like Tim Allen as much as Larry Allen last year.

Draft day move either the night before Day 2 or during Day 2 of the Draft if it happens...

Can't see Dallas paying that much (which isn't a ton of money but it is starters money) for a guy that will be inactive every game as long as Collins, Frederick and Martin are healthy.

So we're going to trade a 22 year old guy who was projected top 10 in last year's draft who we have signed at the rate of a street free agent who you say can play OT? We have a better chance of trading Romo than Collins...

OK, think about this scenario. Ramsey is the top player on the Dallas board and falls to their pick at 4. One of the QBs is the 5th rated player on the Dallas board but is still available after 19 picks.

The Jets pick 20th and just lost LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson to retirement. The Jets call and offer you their pick at 20 for Collins.

Do you turn them down? Knowing Leary can step back into a starting role?

Turn them down why trade a player when we'll need his replacement and he looked that good

I think the chances are low. Ryan Clady was just traded for a swap of 5th and 7 th round picks. This time of year picks are too valuable to teams and Dallas won't get enough back to pull the trigger imo. Hopefully a 5th round comp next year.

Jets traded for Clady. Your scenario not happening.
