I think they are referring to a QB2 who could back up Prescott. The idea of having Showers play a real game at QB will be very very bad.

The idea of any QB out on the market, even as a QB2, isn't much better. Unless they want McCown who is going to be very expensive. Most QBs who are going to be available are other teams QB3. Why even bother. If Dak goes down, or sucks, we're just going to see a repeat of 2015 whether its Showers or another teams castoff QB3.

Personally, I would keep him, but the brass could use him as chip for a backup QB (and maybe late round pick)
If they part with someone, my guess is Escobar. He really is a good pass catching TE...the Cowboys have better options to throw and hand off to. Leary is needed now more than ever. We are already down 1 QB. W/o Leary, we are an ol injury away from another qb injury.

If Dak and Showers go down, then what, McFadden? Don't laugh too hard, I think he's been the emergency guy before at qb.

Uh no, he'll be in the state of the art underwater treadmill deal with Tony!

We really over-rate our guys and under-rate others......Leary only has this year left on his deal and didn't start last year.....not a big selling point.....if he leaves as a FA he may net us a 5th round comp IF everything works out, but that is basically a 6th in 2018....again not of any real value.....backup QBs are much more valuable in this league than backup OGs

I would trade him and Mcfadden if the possibility of filling a hole came about.

Starting Caliber DE, LB, or SS. Even a no 2 receiver or a veteran back up QB.

I would not trade either for late round draft picks.

Leary is a starting caliber guard and Mcfadden is a starting caliber RB. Both will at some point be potentially important to a team due to injury. Maybe even ours. So you hold onto them until someone offers value that it worth pursuing.

Collins position is set in stone. He is a guard and isn't moving.
That does not mean it's the best idea. Larry Allen played OT before and after playing OG and made the Pro Bowl doing it.

Agree. People forget about contracts when they think about trades. Even the greatest OG would have limited value to other teams if he only had 1 year on his contract and a potential for his knee to pop at any time.

I fought that battle in your absence and found no takers on this board.
Many people probably don't know or remember that Larry Allen played OT for a season before and after he played OG and made the Pro Bowl doing it.

We are now in the unenviable position of "desperation", which is what we wished to find with a surplus RB once the season began.

What do you think we'll get offered, see many teams flush at back up QB? Trade a good one and there's GM waiting to get fired.

We had Romo, Moore, Showers and added Prescott. Lost 2 of the 4 but not for the entire season.

We have the best 6 man OL in the league, want to derail that?

Hmmm. Who to believe. Some poster on a message board or a former NFL player who now spends his time training offensive linemen for professional success?

Obviously Bentley hasn't seen the tape...It was Free's guy that made the hit.

if you ask most OLineman, it was never the OLines fault

Nate Newton said Free was a moron on that play. Nate won 3 Super Bowls as an offensive lineman.

You appear to be stalking me. Go back to your Philly brethren.

Collins doesn't have the measurables to play tackle. If he did he would already be playing there and Leary would be starting at left guard.

Sorry, but that is incorrect.

He has better athleticism than many NFL right tackles and some left tackles.

He is 6'4-1/2" and has longer arms than Joe Thomas or Bryan Bulaga..

He played LT in the SEC and was ranked as one of the top 3 OTs in his draft class and ranked #1 by some (see Bob Sturm).

Leary, McFadden, Coe, Mayowa, Russell, Mcadoo, Street, Willcox, Rod smith, Rico Gathers, and Lance Dunbar for Carlos Dunlap and Vontaze Burfict. That's 11 players for 2. Let me see if the game will accept......... Naw my xbox just punched me in the face and turned off.

But dang, we'd be solid w Dunlap and Burfict.
