Fibula is much less serious than the other things that you can break/damage around there. If its not a tibia break or a knee then hes somewhat likely to come back this year.

Preliminary word is that it could be an injury to the patella tendon.

I hear you. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Gurode because I don't think he's ever going to get over his mental errors. Blowing that line call and giving the Giants that gimme touchdown last year still sticks in my craw.

Although I think Gurode is never going to be much of a player, I can't see that he'll be moved. The team keeps hoping he finally gets the mental part of the game - if he did get it he'd be a very good player which is why he was re-signed. Also, I just don't see the interior line having the depth to do this -- we have no idea what Peterman or Procter can do at center.

I hope we aren't wasting our time on Gurode like we did with Torrin Tucker, hoping that he'll eventually grow into his role

I bet they regret trading Jeff Faine right about now.

I'd call up Crennel and see if he wants Gurode. Seriously.

Not with our depth on the OL. Gurode is the primary backup at two positions and could share time at one of them. Peterman could step up OR he could be a word that rhymes with "lust". And I'm not comfortable because a practice squad guy like Procter has looked ok in mini camp. The OL is the weakest unit on the team, no chance do you risk making it even weaker. We're one interior lineman injury away right now from pulling out the rolodex ourselves.

the question is whether the Browns can hold his roster spot for 10 weeks. I'd suspect they would.

Someone else posted that they suspect now it is the Patela tendon. I'm not sure what sort of timeline that involves -- but wouldn't it be odd to tear the Patella but not any the CLs ?

worst comes to worse, we could always give them Greg Ellis for Braylon Edwards

hey, they signed Ebenezer Ekuban away from us and that netted them 8 sacks and a draft pick ;)

Gurode is 5 times the player that Tucker was. Unfortunately, 5 x 0 = 0

That really bites for the Browns. Your prime free agent, first day in camp and possibly shreds his knee up for the year.

Imagine if T.O. came in and tore his ACL. This board would be in a state of disbelief.

Preliminary word is that it could be an injury to the patella tendon.
The patella tendon is located just below the knee cap (patella) and is approximately two finger-breadths wide. If jumping and landing type activities are practised too much, the strain on the patella tendon becomes too great and there is microscopic damage to the tissue that makes up the tendon. Patella tendinopathy is usually characterised by degeneration of the tendon (tendonosis). Patella tendinopathy usually comes on gradually. There's pain in the tendon which is worsened by activity. The focal areas of degeneration feel tender to touch and often the tendon feels very stiff first thing in the morning.

Patella Tendinopathy is usually degenerative and infrequently due to an inflammatory response. Therefore, the use of ice and anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs) is not appropriate. The key to recovering from Patella Tendinopathy is in trying to elicit a healing response without overloading the tendon. This may require rest from sporting activities for up to three months.

why would we sacrifice our depth to help cleveland?

If we could obtain some additional depth where we are lacking, why not? Even a draft choice would be acceptable if we are satisfied with Proctor or Peterman as a backup center. Again, not likely, but a thought.

I realize that. But later in camp, if the other two look good, I would think about it. But that's a big fat IF.
