mr Hawk----if coaching had not left Lee to play every snap in Arizona game ( 79 i think ) in that hot weather...and it was not until like snap 70 that his hamstring became an issue...we would have had him for the last two games we lost...and this is not an over exaggeration...if Lee played against rams and packers we win both of those...cause we got so gashed in the run game against both and we only lost by 5 and 4 points....mic drop
End of that game Garrett had the offense stop trying to get first downs to run out the clock. Put defense back out and Lee got hurt

We can continue to slice this apple in as many ways as possible, but the core (average personnel and suspect coaching), won't allow it to taste any better.

There's quite a bit being put on Lee being the fix. We couldn't tackle with him in there. I'm not sure having him back is just going to turn this defense around magically. And how did we go from 'we're just going to ease Jaylon in' to relying on him to play all game making calls etc. It's sounds more like Freestyle than Strategy.

I beleive thats what their doing . you only have so many draft picks

There is this thing called FA.

And while it might not be prudent to blow all your cap space in FA, there is a middle ground between pulling the Giants and spending $200MM in free agency on defense and then shuffling down the line and signing Nolan freaking Carroll as your big vet addition in the secondary.

The Cowboys seem to struggle with the middle ground. They either went all in with free agency a few years ago and when it backfired on them, they ran the completely opposite direction where they now just sift through the bargain bins where only the Nolan Carrolls of the world are in stock.

I am hoping, that with more salary relief this year after Romo, rolling some cap forward, etc, that they will be a bit more proactive in FA because this defense has more holes than people realize.

All the reports from the offseason was Hitchens looked better than anyone at camp. He was turning the corner......

Nolan Carroll was getting nice reviews in camp too.

Hitchens is what he is. A back up, situational LB. That's not to diminish his importance to the team. Quality teams need guys like Hitchens and I think he was a perfect guy for the role he was likely going to play if McClain had been around.

But if you are counting on a guy like Hitchens to solve some pretty glaring defensive issues on a team that you expect to be a contender, that's a problem and your team probably isn't as good as you think it is.

We had huge leads in both games and Lee in coverage is >>>>> Jaylon for sure.

Saying we definitely beat GB with Lee out there is stretching it I think. We would definitely have had a better chance... but Rodgers owns Marinelli right now and he regularly makes pro bowl players like Lee look silly
Didn't the Cowboys beat GB last season 30-16...

To be clear, I agree. I think it's bs what they're putting this kid through...it's like they want to break his optimism, lol I just didn't want to distract with a coach thread
Jaylon is probably at about 75-80% of what he should be, hopefully that is reason to be optimistic for him next year. Let's see if that nerve keeps regenerating to 100% by next training camp. Has to be better than wearing that brace for drop foot thi year.
