Lee to the Phillies

Lee isn't the best pitcher in baseball. He might be the 5th best. One thing he does have though is when the pressure is on, he is usually at his best. (except when he has had 8 days off :laugh2: )

Now, If I'm Texas I look at going after Raphael Soriano and look at the possibility of moving Feliz to the starter role. Although, he might not be ready for that yet. I don't think he has learned that throwing as hard as you can isn't the key to being a starter. Thats the key to having to have tommy john surgery.

He's the 1st or 2nd best post season guy though and some of the stats he has like batters walked is just incredible.

He would be my 1st or 2nd choice if I needed a pitcher for 1 game.

I agree...besides,
how much longer is he going to be the "best pitcher in baseball" anyway???

The guy is 32 and my bet is his best days are behind him...

It's not like he has to pitch every day.

I would think a guy like him who doesn't live and die with his fastball would at worst have 4 more years at a very high level.

I think Halladay is the best pitcher in Baseball.

Interesting that to make some room the phils are sending joe blanton to boston.

I was hoping they would want to move oswalt and he would come here.

Rangers aren't better off.

He's basically an auto win in the post season.
Until u get to the WS and he chokes.

As a Rangers fan, I couldn't be happier. Texas is a young team with one of the top 3 farm systems in baseball. They should be focused on building a contender for the next 10 years, not selling the farm to a pitcher in his mid 30s. They really haven't missed out on anyone of note other than Crawford that they might have wanted, and they still have plenty of time left in the offseason to improve the team in the short term and long term. Their new ownership is has shown in the process that they're going to open up the checkbooks and Texas is going to play with a big boy payroll. I'd rather have Beltre and Grienke than just Lee.

Lee makes much more sense for the Phillies ... they're in "win now" mode. Holladay is in his mid 30s. They only got one more year of Oswalt under contract. Hamels is right behind him, and they got a lot of age in their lineup. If Lee is going to leave, I'd rather him go to the NL than compete with him in the AL with the Yankees. It's pretty obvious that he really didn't want to pitch in Texas, and thankfully it seems he saved us from ourselves in giving out a ridiculous contract.

Perhaps he was never comfortable with the pressure of being "the man" in Texas and the hero worship, and wanted to "take his talents" to go be a #2 pitcher somewhere else. Maybe that's not the type of guy you want to shell out 120 million for.

I take all these comments back if Texas pulls some "lover scorned" idiocy by grossly overpaying for Pavano.

I literally yelled when i saw that . Are you kidding me? :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::lmao:

So what they have Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels now?

Red Sox get Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford?

Screw baseball seriously, sorry Rangers, but the MLB is screwed and severely flawed.

Yankees should thank the Yankee fans that spit and threw beer at Lee's wife in the playoffs. What were they thinking?

Great, now she can go to Philly and get hit by a battery.

We say that every offseason, but in the end there will always the Giants, Rangers and Tampa Bay who win the right way through home grown talent.

So basically the Phillies are the Miami Heat on steroids?

Top 2 pitchers in baseball, hall of fame caliber guy in Roy Oswalt as well, and WS MVP Cole Hamels. It's too bad about that offense though, got beat by the SF Giants in 6 cause they couldn't bat in runs! I wonder if some team like the Marlins or Reds(If they get Grienke) will beat them in 5 this year.

Boston and Philly just sucked up every big time guy and that Werth-Nationals Contract..

Phillies may have acquired 3 aces via trade or free agency, but they have plenty of home grown talent:

SP - Cole Hamels
RP - Ryan Madson
C - Carlos Ruiz
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Chase Utley
SS- Jimmy Rollins
CF - Shane Victorino
RF - Dominick Brown

Utley, Howard, Rollins, Hamels.. 4 star players on our team. All home grown.

Not to mention Ruiz and Dom Brown.

We also took Werth when almost no one wanted him. Signed him for one year at 300 thousand dollars and made him a star. Same with Victorino, rule 5 draft pick.

I think we know how to develop talent, thanks.
