Let's put this more simply: if he's healthy and he's the Sean Lee we had last year, he should be on the field. If he's anything less than that, he should be on the bench and rehabbing because this defense seems to be doing just fine without him.

You can’t take Smith or Vander Esch off the field. No way, no how. You’d just have to find a way to get all 3 on the field together.

I believe Wilson has experienced some off the field issues. Lee could conveivably replace Wilson, but wilson is only on the field about 14-20 percent of the snaps right now. You don't pay a guy who does that 10 million unless it's an after the fact thank you.

Normally I would agree but Lee is different because I think he’s a big part of the development of smith and LVE
It’s really about his 7 mil base, the other 3 counts anyway
Lee has taken less in the past and would again
You could spread that though with the space we have I probably wouldn’t
I would sit down with Lee and see how long he honestly wants to keep playing
If one year I just let him play out and play in Wilson spot next year while drafting a future replacement
Then I put him on the staff as a LB coach because I think Lee could be a fine DC someday
