Thoughts on picking up Leftwich? May be a good insurance policy. He has experience and potential.

I'm not sure how this would fit within our roster/salary cap though.

Man, if he was backing up Romo, we'd go from one of the quickest releases in the NFL to the absolute slowest. That guy has one hellacious windup.

Yeah but isn't he an upgrade from Brad Johnson? We're not comparing him to Romo...just to Johnson. I doubt we'd bring him in since we've already invested in Johnson and taught him the offense.

It's just something to ponder I suppose. A healthy Leftwich is pretty good.

Leftwich will want a real shot at starting somewhere. I don't think Dallas would be a "likely" spot for that to happen. We'll see.

No question. He'd definitely be an upgrade and I think in the right system, with the weapons we have, he could give Romo a run for his money. I'm not kidding. He's just got some limitations, but he also has high 1st round talent. He's got a good arm, seems pretty accurate, and he's still pretty young. He's just somewhat injury prone, has a slow release, and can't move for crap.

Well, if we signed him all the people that thought we should have drafted him should be happy now...right?

Naaa, didn't think so.

You gotta wonder. He really appears to struggle. Garrad is no Danny White. No mobility and as stated awful delivery. May not be suited for our timing based O.

If the Falcons, Dolphins or maybe even the Chiefs don't try to sign him they are fools. Not that I think he is a great QB, but better than what they have.

Leftwich is like Bledsoe, except he can't stay healthy

Leftwich sucks. I would take Brad Johnson over Fat Albert.

I think Leftwich believes he is a starter material and will want an opportunity to start, which he won't get if he is with Cowboys.

But if he is willing to be a backup, then it could be an option.

Overall I prefer Leftwich to Johnson, but Johnson is already up to speed on the Dallas offense (and Leftwich isn't).

Better to keep Johnson at this point.

The guy carries himself like an absolute slob, who the hell wants that in a QB?

I think picking him up would be an unbelievable move. Read back to quotes from the Dallas defense last year about Leftwich's throws after he picked them apart. They basically said there was little they could do. I can't believe Dallas isn't at least considering this.

honestly I doubt there is much interest in the guy if he's insisting on starting...he just isnt very good

That's more of an indictment on our defense and lack of ability to adjust, than it is a ringing endorsement for Sandwich. Unfortunately, being shredded by less than mediocre QBs has been the norm in Dallas with our lack of pass rush. Hopefully, that is no longer the case.

Byron Leftwich is one of the worst QBs in the league. I mean, he just got benched and cut in favor of David Garrard. Hello?! Why would anyone want this guy on the Dallas Cowboys?
