Teams can survive the loss of WRs -- not QBs.
True, to an extent.
I think Williams, Beasley, etc, would be half of what they've been without Dez.

Probably, however, I never failed to be surprised on what WR2s can do when thrown into the WR1 role for a long period of time -- especially when a team has an elite QB.
If William has to play 16 games at WR1 would anybody be surprised he ended up with 1200 yards and 11-12 TDs?
Romo has already made below average guys like Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson, etc. look better than they really are. Have no doubt we could survive (maybe not contend) with whoever he's throwing the ball to.
It's about coverage. An elite receiver takes so much attention away from the other receivers.
But your point is valid. The QB makes a receiver much more than the other way around.
End. Of. Story.
The 12-4 season last years means our schedule this year will be tougher. With games against the Patriots, Falcons, Saints, Seahawks, Bucs, Dolphins, Panthers, Packers, Jets and Bills not to mention the NFC East games, it's going to be hard to match 12-4. That plus the fact that our defense is not going to be the juggernaut everyone here is predicting at least until maybe the 2nd half of the season and 10-6 would be outstanding.
I'll be surprised if we dont sweep the NFC South
And the AFC East, we're supposed to be worried about the Pats without Brady, the scrub Jets, Bills and Dolphins all of a sudden? Awful QB in that division outside of Brady.
The Bills scare me the most out of that group, they've quietly put together a talented squad.
Vegas has us in the 4th or 5th best team range
Others have us rated anywhere from 7-20 range....with 20 being really silly.
My hype antennae is up....and that makes me very wary.
Last year I thought almost everyone around here was way under rating us.
This year, I think too many are just handing us 12-4 without the Cowboys even showing up.
Some forget just how many of those wins could have easily gone the other way.
Pretty much the play of the year by Romo in OT vs Houston
Tip toe catch by Williams vs Seattle on 4th down.
Near perfect throw by Romo to Dez at Philly to pull it out.
Cowboy records in the running game
Almost no injuries on offense
Etc
Etc
Anyway, we seemed to end the year last year as arguably the 3rd best team in the NFC.
Nobody outside of Cowboy fans is putting Dallas ahead of Seattle or Green Bay again this year.
They CAN do it.
I just get uncomfortable with assumptions that we will match or top 12-4....and go even deeper in the playoffs.
If he got double coverage instead of going against single coverage on the No. 2 corner? Yes, I'd be more than shocked.
Bills look to be pretty good, IMO. Rex will have them playing very well. His act wears thin but his first couple of years at a new place will be good I think.
It looks perfect until Romo or Dez goes down for the season.
Attrition always looms over every team. You know you're going to lose players to serious injury. The question is, who?
They're loaded and they may have a top 2 defense.
But that QB.....
It sure feels like we've been building this thing right all along. And we finally were in position to add significant defensive talent, which we desperately need. On paper, things look pretty dang good for the first time in while.
It's the NFL, though. So much can change, and change quickly. It's nice to go into a season feeling really good about the roster and the direction, but the proof's in the budding. 6-7 games are going to be decided by a play or two next year, one way or another. Let's hope we're in position to cash in on more of those again than we did in 2011, 2012, 2013. 'Cause that sucked.
