Leighton Vander Esch interview

I don't have time to listen to LVE, but he is actually one of my favorite players recently. Gets a lot of underserved hate around the CZ. That's part of why I like him. He was a film guy more than a flash guy..fans just didn't understand that.

Most of the players on this team get a lot of underserved hate. It seems to be what we do now.

I don't get why. I mean, it's supposed to be your team. I was a Romo guy. Still am. But I've also become a Dak guy. I've given him grief here and there. But you really can't say much bad about Dak the man or the player. Those who constantly bash on him couldn't carry his jock strap on or off the field.

It's like a tell in poker when fans start projecting on Dak like that. Tells me that person doesn't know much, especially about themselves. Fans really have gotten a lot worse about this over the past couple decades....

I think fans are just embittered and take it out on the easiest targets, the players. We all know the front office isn't going to change, so we take aim at the players and the coaches. We act like some late-rounder is supposed to come in and save the team or a player who gets paid a lot isn't supposed to get hurt or make mistakes. We do that because this front office has conditioned us to expect and accept failure. We rebel against that with sarcasm and criticism.

Ezekiel Elliott is a good example for me. I can't blame Elliott for falling off a cliff. When the wheels fall off, they fall off. I can't blame him for seeking to ensure his monetary future before that happened. I can't blame him for re-signing with the team when his body couldn't go anymore.

Sure, I could have done without his feed-me motion, I think he would have been better off if he hadn't put on weight and I didn't care for some of his off-field behavior, but he gave us some good years before his health and legs failed him. I don't see a need to make fun of him for that.

Did I enjoy a joke or two about his big head or him looking like an Ewok? Sure. But that's as far as it should have gone IMO.

For sure. Not for lack of effort though. He always wanted to win and gave 100 percent. Give me 11 LVE types and you can win with that.
Better ask for 22, half of them might be nursing an injury at any given point.

Most are also opposition trolls and not real Cowboys supporters.

Makes me stay away a lot from here because 80% of the haters and those with the biggest negative comments are all Eagles supporters with nothing to do but troll opposing teams forums.

I don't feel like most of them are. I just think they are disgruntled Cowboys fans. I don't like to get into all the labeling (hater, troll, lover). I just mostly want to talk football about my team.

Very well said. I loved his passion. Of course it was about money (as to why professionals play professional sports) but I think it was also more than that. You can feel his love of the game.

Hate breeds hate for the ignorant of which this place it’s infested with. It’s really sad to see. They would never say it to the players face to face because they’re all cowards.
