Matt Leinart is used to the spotlight. But this is probably something he wishes wasn't so public.

(thedirty.com / Special to FOXSports.com) The Cardinals' quarterback is in a bit of hot water this week after pictures surfaced on the Internet of the former USC star partying at his Phoenix-area home. One of the pictures shows Leinart in what appears to be a hot tub with four young women. Another shows him holding a beer bong, with a girl crouching at the other end.

Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt said Tuesday that he was "disappointed" in the quarterback, according to a report on the Web site of the East Valley Tribune.

"Matt called me Monday morning and we spoke for a while," Whisenhunt said in a statement, according to the Tribune. "I reiterated to him the type of behavior that we expect at all times from our players. He understands that as well as the level of scrutiny that he's under because of who he is. It's being handled internally.

"I was disappointed but at the same time have no doubts about his commitment to this football team or his ability to lead it."

(thedirty.com / Special to FOXSports.com) Leinart, who began last season as the Cardinals' starter, was limited to just five games after he broke his collarbone. Before Leinart went down with the injury, he was already splitting time with veteran Kurt Warner after he struggled in his first few games.

In the five games he played, Leinart completed 60 of 112 passes, with two touchdown passes and four interceptions. His quarterback rating was a scant 61.9.

He was at home, and really that's what we want the players to do.

As long as the girls were of age and everything was consensual, then all he needs to do is ban camera phones upon entry into the house.

I think it's the imagery of recreational drinking surrounded by scantily clad babes (debatable) involving a high profile "role model" which has his HC's panties in a twist. They ought to be more upset that he isn't surrounded by his QB coach and maybe a personal trainer or two, instead, though. His spiffy 61.9 QB Rating is what is really troubling.

I read this story about a week ago and was going to post the pics but didn't for some reason...

anyways, the story I read suggested that they checked out the girls and they were 19-20... in other words old enough to "consent" but Mr. Leinart better hope that was root beer in that beer bong! :D

Also, Matt's looking a little chunky if you ask me. Might be time for him to put down the brew and do a few stomach crunches.

Cardinals quarterback and former USC standout Matt Leinart continues his offseason regimen of hanging out in the hot tub and getting underage coeds from Arizona State drunk. Does God hate you? Before today, we couldn't be sure. But these photos pretty much confirm it. Sorry.

The Dirty has the details on many of the girls in these (and more) photographs, and it appears most or all of them graduated high school in 2006, placing them in the 19-20 age range. Leinart is just shy of his 25th birthday, so there doesn't seem to be anything too scandalous about this party. Oh, well, except the illegal part. Excuuuuuuse me, Mister Clarence Darrow. Not all Americans know every obscure blue law in the country, like "the drinking age is 21" or whatever.

Leinart's buddy Nick Lachey, on the other hand, is 34. If you're 34 and can tolerate a conversation with a 19-year-old girl, congratulations: you are functionally ********. But I guess the TV show about being married to Jessica Simpson probably should have tipped us off about that one.

Now wait just a minute here, who said anything about conversation?

Matt Leinart's a sad individual. Your a QB in the NFL. You've won a Heisman trophy and a national championship. You should be hooking up models, not hanging out with college co-eds. He needs to step it up, he's embarrassing.

LEINART SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED

Posted by Mike Florio on April 3, 2008, 8:57 a.m.

Lost by many in the brouhaha regarding the photos of Matt Leinart cavorting with a gaggle of young ladies is the question of whether the girls seen drinking alcohol were of legal age, and if so whether Leinart provided them with the alcohol they were drinking.

It’s only fair. Bengals receiver Chris Henry was suspended for eight games due in part to a conviction for doing just that. If Leinart did the same thing, justice and fairness require that he suffer a similar fate.

Indeed, how hard would it be to identify the girls in the photos? We’ve already received an e-mail from one reader who believes that he knows one of the girls in the pictures, and if she is who the reader says she is, her ******* profile says that she is under the age of 21.

We’re not saying that any of the girls were/are under 21 or that Leinart gave alcohol to any of them. We’re only saying that the matter needs to be investigated, and if charges are appropriate then charges should be pursued.

If the authorities merely brush this under the rug, a major flaw in the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy will be revealed. Discipline is meted out to players who have been charged with or convicted of crimes; thus, any player who can avoid being charged with a crime apparently can avoid the imposition of discipline by the NFL.

In this regard, the league probably should launch its own investigation. There were indications a year ago that NFL Security was active in connection with the Mike Vick imbroglio. Shouldn’t the league set those same resources in motion to determine whether there’s reason to believe that Leinart gave booze to people who were too young to buy and/or drink it?

Hot tubbin' with Leinart
April 3, 2008 10:23 AM

How sad is it that we live in a world where it's no longer acceptable for franchise quarterbacks to serve drinks to young women out of beer bongs? In case you're the one person who hasn't viewed photos of Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart's recent NCAA Tournament house party, here ya go.

I'm trying to summon the moral outrage to write a column condemning Leinart's actions, but I'm not there yet. If he's guilty of anything, it's being a complete doofus. In theory, it's hard to take issue with a wealthy, single quarterback hopping into a hot tub in his backyard with several (4) attactive young women. My March Madness parties almost never end up like this, mainly because my neighbor Brian hasn't cleaned his hot tub in four years. The one thing I'd suggest to Leinart for future house parties is to confiscate everyone's iPhone at the door. And if young ladies are planning to guzzle alcohol through a hose, you might want to grab their car keys as well.

The Arizona Republic's Dan Bickley tells Leinart to grow up in this column. And judging by the play Bickley has received on national radio and TV, he should think about scolding Leinart more often.
"You might think that good pal Nick Lachey - former boy-band sensation who will be 35 in November - might be able to lend his friend some elderly guidance in situations like this. But in the latest round of pictures, Lachey is still wearing his hat cocked sideways, like he's a child. Together, these two have become the male equivalent of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, somewhat laughable and always in search of the next party."
In response to Bickley's column, Herm Edwards is calling for the league to impose sanctions on players who wear their baseball caps cocked at least three inches to the side. Honestly, I wish Dan would leave Lachey out of this. The man's had an identity crisis since his marriage to Jessica Simpson ended.

Here's the real truth: If Leinart had led the Cardinals to the playoffs (I know it's a stretch), no one would care about these photos. We'd drop by Dirty.com to check them out and then move on with our lives. Why is Tom Brady not widely criticized for having an unwed child while Leinart, another single father, is being attacked from all sides? It's simple. Brady wins Super Bowls.

It's the same thing with Tony Romo, although he's not a dad. If the Cowboys had beaten the Giants in the playoffs, the infamous trip to Cabo would've been a non-story. Romo's a much more accomplished quarterback than Leinart, but he'll be hounded about his off-the-field activities until he wins a playoff game. Once that happens, his dating life will only be interesting to the TMZ crowd.

By the way, I thought our team of bloggers (James Walker, Bill Williamson, Mike Sando, Pat Yasinskas, John Clayton) did a marvelous job covering the league meetings. Thanks guys.

It's off the topic a bit, but they need to lower the legal drinking age to 18. It is absolutely stupid to me that we allow an 18 year old to vote, get married, have children, and go to war to possibly die for their country, but tell them they cannot have a beer.

I don't get it, and I don't drink and never have.

I feel the same way. If you are allowed to go to war for your country, you can't have a beer?

The key is to teach kids who want to drink to handle liquor responsibly.

How bout a deal where, if you do in fact decide to join the military at 18...then you can drink? Even though I completely agree, I am tired (as a member of the military) of that being used as the argument to get millions of 18 yr old kids (who are in fact NOT, signed up for nor will go off to war) the right to drink. Just my opinon.

If that is gonna be part of the justification...then it's a two way street.

I really dont see, at all, what the issue is over what Matt is doing here. As long as they're all of age and everything was cool then I don't see what the issue is.

I get what you are saying, but I'm not sure how feasible it is.

Look, let's be honest, is anyone shocked that a girl 20 years old is drinking beer at a party? The only thing the 21 year old age limit accomplishes is to make it "romantic" to somehow reach the age to legally go drink in a bar.

I come from a family of alcoholics and the last thing in the world I really want is more kids drinking. The 21 age limit doesn't stop it and never has. I seriously doubt anyone thinks that people actually wait until they are 21 to try alcohol.

I think fewer kids would try it at 16 and 17 if they didn't feel the pressure of waiting 5 more years.

All I'm saying is 21 seems to be a strange and even arbitrary age to put the limit at given all the other things we tell people they are old enough to do at 18. If they offered that right to military personnel I certainly would support it.

Actually, military members can drink at the age of 18.....If the base commander approves. When I was at Ft. Huachuca, AZ we were so close to the Mexican boarder that the Base Commander decided to let soldiers drink on base rather than have them sneak down to Mexico and get drunk and in trouble down there. Also, if you are overseas you can drink as well since most local laws allow have an 18 y/o age limit.
