Now Lemon i believe was kind of a bubble guy anyway. But the fact he is out there, and not Hamilton says something right there. He's playing a lot because they need him so the guys that probably will make the team don't get injured.

I haven't seen enough of either to agree or disagree but if Lemon can cover that gives him upside in this league.

Cowboys front office is doing a good job bringing in players through undrafted free agency and churning the bottom of the roster. Orie Lemon, Mario Butler, Mana Silva and Lance Dunbar were really good football players in college. These aren't flukes.

Actually Hamilton was out there quite a bit but limited production. A couple of games ago I truly thought he was on the roster, now I think not. Possibly Atkins takes his place.

I too think Lemon has outplayed Connor.

It would have been interesting to see Lemon get some snaps with alongside Sean Lee earlier in preseason to see what they look like. I think the hesitation is the Cowboys have been looking for a better athlete to play the spot and Lemon is very marginal athletically - actually far worse from a Combine perspective. I don't know if he's gotten quicker, Connor has gotten slower or both of the above but it is certainly hard to say Connor is quicker than Lemon on the field right now.

Jerry doesn't like to release his FAs without wasting a lot of salary expense so I don't think he would release him just yet even if Lemon has beat him out.

I'd tap the breaks on the Lemon hype. I think he deserves to make the 53, I like him as a special teamer and maybe part time thumper. He's played well against other team's 2nd and 3rd teamers. It's nice to see him jump a route against a rookie QB staring down a target in maybe the worst set of offensive weapons in the NFL, particularly in the skill positions. However, let's be clear here ... the guy ran a 4.9 at the Combine. He'll be a liability in coverage just as Bradie James and Brookings were.

i understand the money implications, but if we're talking strictly football, lemon has outplayed connor this preseason and has looked good in practice. lemon has put in his due on the PS, i think he deserves a shot this year. i follow him on twitter, he is very popular in the locker room.

I thought he already had a pretty good shot to make the team before the pick. Regardless of what happened at the combine (which the coaches no longer care about) he's been making plays this preseason and he did the same last preseason.
