Leonard Davis - Updated

[FONT=Times New Roman, times, serif]Looks like Leonard Davis could be in the house tonight when the Skins take their free agent entourage to the Wizards game. They want to bring him in; not sure if he is in Dallas first, but the Skins are pushing for him. Sounds like the Dockery thing is not panning out perhaps.
Just got off the phone with someone very close to the situation. Davis in indeed in another city as we speak - Dallas I believe- but I heard there is a "75-80 percent" chance he could be in Washington soon. The Commanders are indeed his next free agent visit destination, if in fact he makes another trip. I hear his agents are talking to 4-5 teams and fielding lots of calls, so it's possible he signs with another team while still on this first visit.
Also, Ladell Betts said he has been told nothing about being dealt, but realizes some rumors persist. Said he speaks to his agents daily and they have never mentioned anything, but I also hear that the jets and Broncos have some serious interest in him.
Stay tuned.

If the Commanders are dangling Betts, really classy move on their part trading away a player who just four months ago forfeited his chance at free agency because he wanted to stick with the franchise long term.

Somebody on the ESPN message board is reporting that ESPN News is reporting that Davis just signed with Dallas. Can someone please confirm this?

I am on ESPN News all day and havent seen it

this is bad...if Skins are in it, Jerry might feel pressured to overpay. It seems like he's already got a hard on for Davis, and we know Jerry has to get what Jerry wants

Davis isn't gonna fix much...We sign him and there's still significant questions about the Oline

I would rather have Derrick Dockery than Leonard Davis who is never been in shape.

Don't believe anything you read on ESPN message board. There is also a thread saying that the Cowboys are trading TO for Michael Vick.

No one at extremeskins is interested in him, they want us to get him so they don't even have to deal with him. Too much money that they'd rather spend on dockery. I think it's just a drive up the price kinda deal to make sure we don't get him for too cheap I suppose? Kinda funny how all the NFC east teams are going after him after hearing about Dallas having interest.

Dockery is a false start machine. No thanks.

Actually, both the Skins and Giants have issues along the line. Skins didn't re-sign Dockery and the Gints cut Petitgout loose, so it's not really all that surprising. It's no secret that he'll be the cheapest of the top 3 O-lineman in FA, so he fits the bill for all three teams.

The Skins are legitimately interested in signing a large, mauling guard. They may be feigning interest in Davis, though, just to drive up the price for the Boys.

If Davis has always liked the Cowboys, then I do not see him visiting Washington.

I doubt Davis ever makes it out of Dallas. Its like Wahle signing with Carolina a couple years ago. He wants to be close to home.

I wish I was on ESPN all day? The mere fact that the Commanders want him makes me think he is going to be a big fat BUUUUUUUUUUST.

Six false starts in 2007 and 1 holding penalty. That's 40 total yards of penalties for the entire season on a mistake-prone offense.

You kidding me? I do this on Madden franchise mode all the time. Sign to HUGE contract with no signing bonus. Then trade for draft picks.

Problem solved.

At the end of the day it is a business though. With the way ole Danny boy likes to throw his money around every free agent should at least stop in Washington because there is an 85% chance you will become the highest paid player at your position no matter how good you are.
