Fans want Garrett fired because he’s the current embodiment of their frustration. They’d be happy until football started and then pick out another object of their frustration—either Dak or the new coach—and we’d be right back where we are after the first loss.
Exactly. We’d get a new coach, he would make mistakes as well, the same players would under deliver and the same brass wouldn’t add any depth. We’d have similar results and the belly aching would start again with someone else as the new target.

Yeah, but we'd have fresh ideas with a new pep in the step of players that have stopped believing in their staff. High Schools can't draft or sign free agents. I've seen a bad team got to a good team with nothing but a coaching change.

There’s some truth to that but I don’t see Dez all of the sudden not dropping balls just because we have a new coach. A new system could also backfire, ask the Giants players how well those fresh ideas worked for them, lol. The pep in their step was walking out on the coaching staff. Chip Kelly was another example as was any coach in Cleveland.

I do think there is something to continuity to a degree, the players need to deliver on their end too. For every JG screw up per game, there are at least 6-7 player screw ups that could have changed the game as well. As I’ve said, I’m giving your boy ;) one more season to right the ship before I take you up on your request above. If we don’t make the playoffs I’ll be the first to say “G*$@#* Su!k*”.

*Barring any major injuries or suspensions or losing 4 pro bowlers at once.

New motivation and confidence in your staff goes a long way. Players play flat when they don't believe they can win. That starts in the meeting room.. players also don't like playing for a coach that never takes the blame. Garrett is much to pompous and arrogant to ever take the blame. Salud, my friend!

If Garrett was fired I would love to see them bring in Mike Shanahan is an excellent game planner and disciplinarian. He knows how to use the running game and on top of that him and Jerry have a relationship. He drafted Kirk Cousins and didnt want RG3. He knows football!!!

Let’s Say Garret was Fired. Then What? not sure but I think the fans will party for a couple week celebrating the firing..
Before Garrett leaves I would like to grab him by his ear and lead him out to the star on the field and give him a good caning.

My concern would be the replacement.

As I've said a million times...this league is really about the HC and their ability to develop talent.

The idea that certain GM's have an 'eye for talent' is wishful thinking for fans who like to play armchair QB and the Dungeons and Dragons of sports...fantasy football.

The issue with Dallas...particularly in the past 14 years...really hasn't been about getting talent. It's about Jerry's inability to pick a good HC.

And I don't see him getting a coach on the level of a Sean McVay, Doug Marrone or a young Bill Belichick or a Pete Carroll out of USC type.

Instead, we get a Campo, a way past his prime Parcells (who was still good for the organization), Wade Phillips and Garrett.

And like I always say, there are many reasons why a team fails to meet its goals. Not all of them are related to coaching. This team has actually been competitive during several of the seasons you insist on pretending are rebuilding years.

Sure there are many reasons why a team fails but then you try and correct those deficiencies. I didn't pretend we were rebuilding, that was your excuse along with the other Garrett apologists. And you should be embarrassed for repeating the "competitive" meme. I mean, really, what kind of standard is that for this franchise?

When you’ve got a defense like Marone or Zimmer or Pederson has, it makes things easier. Not that either of those guys has accomplished much more than Garrett has yet anyway.

These guys are playing in the Championship game and all 3 are doing it without a true franchise QB. These guys have absolutely accomplished more than Garrett but I guess when a guy sees competitiveness as some abstract measure for a failed coach, I can see where you would think they haven't accomplished more than Garrett even though at least one of those guys will be coaching in the SB in a couple of weeks.

You’re not angry about coaching. You’re angry the team hasn’t advance and you think it’s because of the coaching. I’m disappointed the team hasn’t advanced too, but I think the shortcomings have been related to personnel.

Personnel? Don't put this all on McClay. Or are you saying we should make a change with our pseudo GM because I'd bet you've been pimping him pretty hard.

I would gut punch him, straighten him up with a knee to the face and then, grab him by the ear. But, that's just me.

It’s actually not been my ‘excuse’ that we were rebuilding since 2013, when we were actually rebuilding. Our team was rebuilt and capable of competing at a high level back in 2014. That’s one of the reasons I disagree with the brain dead mantra about 20 however many years of mediocrity. You have to win your playoff games when you get there.

2007, 2009, 2014, 2016. We win two or three of the very close games in those seasons (well, maybe not 2009), our recent playoff history looks better. We didn’t. It is what it is, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a small statistical sample. 2014 and 2016 —the Garrett years—especially. It comes down to a play or two. Ask Mike Zimmer. And it’s tough to make those plays when you’re trotting our a below-average defense for most of those snaps like we have.

We have, and still do, need to improve the quality of defensive players on the roster. That’s not a knock on McClay, whose done a good job with the resources we have had. It’s just the reality of the league. It’s a personnel business. You need players to win.

Anybody that suggests Jeff Fischer should be forced to write out a 100,000 times Jeff Fischer is nothing more than a 7-9 Head Coach.

and, if they were going to write this out 100k times, it will go a smidge quicker if they spell his name correctly (Jeff Fisher)....;)

oh, and for @Ranching

Garrett sucks

Fans want Garrett fired because he's a poor coach. He's the cause of their frustration. It's not like fans are just frustrated and they take it out on Garrett. I mean, he does have something to do with causing that frustration. 8 years later and excuses for this guy keep coming.

Meanwhile, folks talk about the process and rebuilding and all the other buzzwords they use to defend Garrett and here we are watching Doug Marrone in his first full year coaching his team in a Championship game, Pederson is in his second year and Zimmer is in his third year and without a true franchise QB. Give this BS a rest already.
But we’re comparing the Cowboys to the rest of the league which we don’t have the same opportunities to pursue or attract coaches like those and then let them coach without interference.

We should be comparing Garrett to his fellow puppet predecessors. We can only dream what it must be like to not be limited by a dysfunctional front office.

If Garrett were fired? I imagine those pictures we've all heard so much about, would finally come out.
