::yawn::playmakers;1580865 said:The preseason doesn't mean anything except to stay healthy. I repeat the preseaon doesnt mean anything.
dargonking999;1581188 said:so what are you trying to say?
Doomsday101;1581190 said:Pre-season is more about individuals than team
dargonking999;1581196 said:Ahhh, i did not know that. I could have sworn that Pre-season was the prime indicator of whether or not a team success during the season.
Doomsday101;1581198 said:But you asked any ways. OK :laugh2:

man, sarcasm is a *****
stilltheguru;1581281 said:Anybody who says preseason doesnt mean anything must not be a competitive person. Win/Loss may not be the determining factor of these games but you can learn ALOT about players in preseason games. There was a reason Carpenter played so average last year in preseason, because like he said he was'nt ready. I guarantee you he is going to make plays in preseason which will translate into the regular season.
It doesnt matter.................................
playmakers;1580865 said:The preseason doesn't mean anything except to stay healthy. I repeat the preseaon doesnt mean anything. The Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Bucs and even the Eagles use to be known to go 3-1 or 4-0 in the preseaon back in the 90's and look how bad they stunk. Ware could have 4 sacks tomorrow but what does that mean???? Nothing. Most of the time teams will use vanilla offenses and defenses. The schemes are so easy to beat that it doesnt tell us anything. The four sacks just means hes getting his work in. Its not were going 12-4 because of how we played in the preseason. we wont know until week one when teams disguse coverages and have a gameplan.
You cant win anything in the preseason but you sure can lose it in the preseason. So lets stay healthy first and foremost and let our guys get there work in. Besides that the preseaon has no puropse on how good or bad a team is in the reg season.
Doomsday101;1581291 said:You want to win but does it matter enough to stick the starter back in the lineup in the 4th qrt if you losing? I agree it is about seeing the players and how they respond and perform as individuals. Play calling also falls along those line.
aikemirv;1581373 said:No, that is just bad form. That is like beating up on your little brother.
Doomsday101;1581449 said:Just saying while everyone wants to win but player evaluation is what this is all about. Coaches will have some tough cuts this year and they need to see as many of these guys as they can.
joseephuss;1581462 said:Something to consider about this pre-season is that Jason Garrett is new to being an offensive coordinator. This will be a good learning experience for him on getting plays called to the QB with the clock running. It will give him a feel of what to expect come the regular season.
Doomsday101;1581585 said:Here is what Phillips had to say:
You never get a decent idea of play-calling style from a preseason opener. Coaches don't want to show a whole lot of their cards in a meaningless game. And they're more worried about evaluating personnel than scoring points.
"It's still more of an individual game than a team game at this point," Wade Phillips said.
Even if this game counted, it still wouldn't be a good gauge of Garrett's play-calling style. The two starting tackles standing on the sideline -- matching up backups with premier speed rushers -- ought to severely limit the vertical passing game with Tony Romo.
I can understand the excitement of the of the 1st pre-season game but let’s don't forget this is pre-season regardless of this being Garretts 1st time out. You have players to look at so there could be many plays called in this game for the purpose of seeing a particular player in a certain situation and how he does instead of a play that you may have ran in a reg season. An example is with competition at RB Dallas very well could run the ball more tonight than say a reg season game because seeing these back is more important than running a certain play.
