Rob Ryan's Oakland D's ranked 31, 25, 18, 26 and 24th in scoring D when he was with the Raiders 2004-2008?

Brutal..............

I hope he doesn't have any foot fettish vids floating around like his twin brother.

Yep, scan a couple years of stats and you have him all figured out. He really sucks.

Let me get this straight....Al Davis is still alive and making all the decisions for the Raiders? When did this happen?

I do think his lack of good "stats" is cause to be concerned.

It could be just the hand he was dealt with those defenses, or it could be he's not that great as a coordinator.

People seem to be siding with the personnel issues, but can we be certain that's the problem?

I'll be holding out hope, but he's got to prove he can put together a top-10 defense before I'll buy into the hype.

Raiders had Art Shell and Lane Kiffin as HC with Al Davis selecting the players. But they must've sucked because of Ryan.

Tell me 1 DC candidate that isn't already locked up that has a substantially better track record

yo guys I heard Bellichick sucked in Cleveland - any truth to this?

What did he have to work with other than Nmandi on the Raiders defense during that time?

Ok.....take those years out in Oakland.

Scan the other years he was a DC and tell me what you come up with.

.

My God, that's almost as bad as Dom Capers in Houston and Miami !!!!

I wonder if the fact that he played with some of the NFLs all time worst offenses in Oakland and his defense was on the field for 75% of the game had anything to do with allowing accumulative stats?

There aren't many teams that he's been the DC on that had any aspirations of even making the playoffs.

I'd consider it more a lack of talented players rather than painting the DC as being bad.

This reeks of the same judgment used by posters on here who looked at a box score and said Garrett would be a poor head coach.

Seriously people, think.

If he is indeed hired as the next DC of the Cowboys...what he has done with other teams is not as important as what he will do with the Cowboys and also what position coaches are brought in to help...just keeping it real. :)

Capers had pelts on the wall as a DC before Houston and Miami.

Maybe you remember he was DC in Pittsburgh?

What about the job as Jags DC?

They were only ranked #1 in the league.

Stupid comparison.

Par for the course.

The new avatar is cracking me up. Maybe instead of calling him Rob, we should start calling him Captain Ron.

What is this hire based on then?

Take away the name Ryan.........

Would he even get an interview with where his D's have ranked?

To me the only positives are he last name is Ryan and he coached under BB.

To me if you are making a hire like the you should easily be able to rattle of 5 or so reasons that make it a good hire.......

I'm going to bet this this has to do with something Garrett knows personally, and feels good about. OR, and maybe more likely, something Garrett's connections know personally and have highly recommended.
