Let me see if I have this right?

Neither them are near as talented as Jay or D-Ware.

Sapp wasn't as talented as Ratliff? Um.. i don't think that's true.

Burgess went to two pro bowls and recorded two double digit sack years in oakland.. but no he's no D Ware.

Wasn't trying to compare them. Certainly they didn't pay as well as Ware and Rat.

Just stating two talented guys he had on his D in Oaklands that could rush the passer.

I think Sapp had a double digit sack year, and Burgess had two, 16 one year.. and one or two pro bowls in Oakland.

Bottom line is the NFL is strange land. You can have coaches and units go from average to league stud in one year and back down to worthless the next. There are VERY FEW coaches or units that stay on top for too long. You have to look at teams like the Ravens, Patriots and Steelers and respect what they do year in and year out on defense. It's all about finding a system that works and sticking with it.

I dont think Ryan has ever been in a place or a system that was stable and gave him the support every coach needs. In Oakland it's always a mess, you have to wonder if you will have a job from one day to the next. The owner supplies you with players that will win a 100 meter dash but have hardly seen a football. In Cleveland it was two and done. He never really had the support and the Browns are not exactly know for spending money or having the best player movement in the NFL.

Hopefully he can come in here and settle down for the long term with Garrett and install his system and groom younger coaches to take his place much like in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and New England as I mentioned. He will be given the support he lacked in his other two jobs and hopefully not only for him but the future of this team it's something they can build on for years.

I'm not in love with any of these DC candidates.

To me, you have to be able to point to something as a proven result.

Either a major turn around in scoring D, or consistently being near the top of some important statistical category.

Since inexperience is an issue I'd go get Schotty as Asst HC and hire a Horton, or Bowles as DC.

Rob Ryan's Oakland D's ranked 31, 25, 18, 26 and 24th in scoring D when he was with the Raiders 2004-2008?

Brutal..............

I hope he doesn't have any foot fettish vids floating around like his twin brother.

You need to look at some of our past "stars" way worse than a foot fetish.

Yet some are still idolized.

Oh my bad are you talking about Warren Sapp? Oh and I was just talking about the players he had last year, I guess you were talking about players he had throughout his career.
