The Cowboys have several assistant coaches without a contract for 2012: Dave Campo (secondary), Hudson Houck (running game/offensive line), Brett Maxie (secondary/safeties), Wes Phillips (assistant offensive line), Keith O'Quinn (offensive quality control/wide receivers) and Skip Peete (running backs).

I agree those all without contracts NEED NOT TO BE RENEWED. ESPECIALLY CAMPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Campo's contract is up?!?!?!? YIPPPPPPIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Huock, see ya. Maxie, see ya.

I keep Peete though.

What ever Garrett and wants I hope he gets. If that is getting rid of all these assistant coaches fine if it is keeping them fine.

So if Garrett wants to keep all of them, you're ok with that?

This is Garrett's call just as all personnel on the roster, things will and are going to change, I think, he will get the people as in coaches he wants and the players he wants..
It is in his contract...

I'm ok with a HC keeping or firing any of his assistant coaches. When fans start coaching the team they can hire and fire whom every they want. Simple question if you were the HC would you want the say in who your assistant coaches would be? That is all I'm saying, if I have to be held responsible for the outcome then give me the right to determine who those assistant will be.

If Jason fires them all that is ok with me by the same token if he wants to retain some or all then it is on him. That in my view is how things should be done.

Simple idea here. HC should have the right to keep or fire anyone he wants. Why would people want it any other way? and if you were the HC wouldn't you want that say?

Evidently so. :laugh2:

In the end I hold Jason accountable as I would any HC. If I'm going to hold him accountable then I give him the power to hire and fire those assistant coaches around him. They are part of his staff.

The coaches mentioned have done a poor job.

And they got the 'benefit of the doubt' from the Garrett supporters last year when folks said they should be sent packing.

And again they did a poor job this year.

'Benefit of the doubt' left town.

And if Garrett is keeping coaches like this around it's an indictment of him and his ability to assemble a quality staff.

I'm still not getting the whole keep Garrett thing. He is not a leader or a difference maker. Another weak Jerry lap dog.

I would keep Peete. The rest can clean their desk asap.

I think he has to get at least one more season to truly prove himself. As disappointing as this season was, I think it's unfair and irresponsible to pull the plug on him so soon.

I agree with this. But from listening to Garrett and reading his vibe, I have no doubt there will be some major changes with the assistant coaches this offseason. IIRC, Campo was only retained because we failed to sign the DB coach we really wanted.

Fans giving benifet of the doubt do not mean jack to me, fans do not run the team period.

If you hire a HC then what goes along with that is having the say over his own staff in the end it all falls to the HC. If he and his staff do not get the job done then they likely will be fired.

On what basis? Where do you see improvement from the day he took over? He is two games over 500, the team collapses and disapears when it counts. They expect to lose and do when the chips are down. He is a mediocre OC. What more do you need to see? He'll be give two more years, and they'll be wasted just like Wade, Campo, Gailey etc.

That's obvious. Apparently the only thing that does 'mean jack' to you is anything and everything the Cowboys dish out. That you'll lap up with a spoon. Unquestioning, unwavering, unaware.

And he's gotten that, and his choices have been poor ones that haven't gotten the job done. If Garrett were foolish enough to adamantly insist on retaining this bunch of losers, he should be sent packing along with them.

As I said if he fails then he should be fired. Having fans holler who the assistant coaches should be is a joke. Fans are not the ones with their job on the line the HC is and thus the HC should hire or fire any of the assistant coaches on his staff.

I am holding Garrett responsible in the end it all falls to him and if I feel that way then I at least should back off on who he hires or fires.

I will not blame the assistant coaches for the failure or success I put that squarely on the HC
