Yeah, Barber's 52 receptions for 417 yards last year weren't check downs. They were planned fly patterns!

I'm no D Coordinator, I just play one on message boards. But seriously, Romo(or Garrett) does not like to dink and dunk his way down the field. We've seen this scenario play out over the past few seasons.

This is true. Garrett's offense consist of attacking down field with the pass and rushing the football. Check downs are there in case the plays down field are covered. Which is why they call it a check down.

The only offense I know of that consists primarily of dink and dunk passing is the West Coast Offense. Which is why Jeff Garcia was always a QB in the WCO. He is very accurate passer and really didn't have the arm strength to play in regular offenses.

Apparently, your problem is that you have an opinion.

If there is one overused catch phrase around here, it is "agenda".

Don't like what someone says, accuse them of "having an agenda". It is very witty, original and oh so profound.

I suppose some think that makes their own opinion "agendaless" and makes them somehow more "unbiased" but it really is an idiotic cop-out to discussing the issues.

The only agenda anyone has around here is for the Cowboys to win more and get better.

All in all, that's what everyone wants and some need to give it a rest with the other holier than thou stupidity.

That is a piece of art right there!

The truth!

I actually saw where Babe said the receivers were open a few times and Romo just missed them. All that with the Giants selling out against the pass.

We just had bad QB play Sunday night.

That is why Garrett needed to just keep pounding them over and over.

Who cares if we run the ball 10 times in a row, if they arent going to come up and stop it, keep pounding them. He seems more focused on the run this year, but he still needs to be more patient.

Romo never looks for the checkdown enough, going back to pre-Garrett days. In his first year as a starter, we were dead last in RB receptions.

Not that that lets Garrett off the hook. If this is our future head coach, you would expect him to be able to get his point across to the QB to look for the checkdown. Or to know what to do if he couldn't get his point across.

wow, I see The Danny Amendola crowd has shown up....
Olgetree doesn't see the field this year unless there is an injury to one or two receivers..

There were plenty of receivers open in the Giants game but Romo would rather throw it to the other team or try to throw it into double coverage instead

Did you even watch this pre season? How can you compare the two? Amendola did nothing and at no point showed me anything to believe he would make the team.

Now Olgetree show a lot! From what I could tell the kid looked fast and quick. Very smooth player. Really look comfortable out there and demonstrated outstanding hands.

I'm no expert, but I know what I see. The kid didn't look like a rookie. Certainly ahead of the curve.

I disagree.

I think the plays he called were absolutely fine. It was on Romo 100% for making those decisions.

Garrett shouldn't have to worry about his Pro Bowl Veteran Quarterback to make College/Rookie QB decisions like that.

I see absolutely no down side to this. I'd sit Hurd.

Does it have to be one of our 4 WRs?
Can't we dress 5 WRs and go light one man somewhere else?

I know we are already light one player somewhere since we dress two FG kickers.

I agree , we should keep 5 WRs active and deactivate either Buehler or Folk but that's a tough call. I might take a chance and deactivate Folk even though he has become one of the leagues most accurate kickers but I don't trust special teams coverage abilities just yet. I think we will not have to kick field goals against the Panthers Monday night (we'll score 3 or more TDs& defense has a lot to prove), and if we do, Buehler will have a chance to show his FG accuracy.

 WOW!!!! REALLY??? Dude just quit or at least tell me you were joking? You'd take a chance and deactivate Folk just so we can kick some kickoffs into the endzone? Granted for all we know buehler could be up to the task of making the FGs but not worth the chance when we know what we have in Folk especially during last seconds of the game when it could mean win or lose. I dont know what league you watch but in the NFL I watch games are too close and decided by just a few points on the regular.

Semi- joking. Just want to see if Buehler can be an accurate FG kicker since having 2 active kickers on the gameday roster really bothers me. Even though I really like Folk's consistentcy, I would have only 1 kicker active. Plus I think this week we will beat Carolina by 2 TDs it will not be a close game.

I was so unimpressed with Crayton, Miles, Hurd, and even Roy not being able to get open against the Giant's secondary filled with backups. Tony Romo looked really frustrated with the WR's inability to get open probably leading him to make poor decisions and even poorer passes. Let's face it, the O-line gave Romo time to throw. Crayton dropped a perfect pass from Romo. Tony really praised Ogletree during the preseason showing confidence in him, and we all know Ogletree has talent. I say give the kid a chance to see if he can deliver against Carolina. He plays special teams too so Wade can keep 5 active Wrs for the game.
Otree has the rep of the GM to overcome first... the deck is stacked, guys who have tried to beat out Barbie, Spears, Procter and even guys like John Phillips, experienced the same problem...

Jerryland spent a a lot of time, money and draft picks on this group of WRs, OTree an UDRFA can make this organization's player evaluation look "tainted" for lack of a nicer word, he may be the best WR on the team!

It's preseason, that's the point, who cares, he was going up against players that are working bagging groceries now. So the guy who's going to change the season for the cowboys is a undrafted rookie receiver....WOW, that's funny..just like the crowd last year was trying to tell people that Amendola was the end all be all for the Cowboys, that he was the Wes Welker for the cowboys, that was laughable...and so is Activating a rookie receiver in olgetree

Yep. still with all that being said, Romo chose to throw to Ogletree over Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, and Miles Austin. Romo never gave vote of confidence to Amendola.

The comparison between the popularity of Amendola and Ogletree really needs to stop. From the moment Amendola was signed as an UDFA he had the unfair comparisons to Wes Welker because of his size and where he went to school at and obviously just couldnt make a difference when the pre-season games started. Ogletree had no hype what so ever when he got signed so the hype that Ogletree is getting on this board and from the Cowboy fanbase is because he EARNED IT. The man was nothing but consistent all through the camps and did even more during the games. Obviously you didnt watch all the pre-season games to make the remark that he only went against scrubs cause he actually went against the 49ers first team unit and went against a good corner in clements that he beat a few times and probably would've caught a TD on if Romo wouldnt of under threw him. Every WR on our team has praised the kid for his abilities and route running and even earning the praise of our QBs hence the many looks he would get in the games. And really who are you to say O couldnt be an impact for us in the passing game?

Sure did, but that doesn't apply to Catch17's agenda.

I am all for this move as well. Sometimes young guys can come out of nowhere and give a team a spark. Bennett did it a few times last year. I like Ogletree and I know he can catch the ball when it hits his hands. I cnnot say that about Austin, Hurd, or especially Crayton.

Nobody needs an agenda to say Tony sucked on Sunday.

His play was putrid.
