Let's activate Ogletree for Carolina

I was so unimpressed with Crayton, Miles, Hurd, and even Roy not being able to get open against the Giant's secondary filled with backups. Tony Romo looked really frustrated with the WR's inability to get open probably leading him to make poor decisions and even poorer passes. Let's face it, the O-line gave Romo time to throw. Crayton dropped a perfect pass from Romo. Tony really praised Ogletree during the preseason showing confidence in him, and we all know Ogletree has talent. I say give the kid a chance to see if he can deliver against Carolina. He plays special teams too so Wade can keep 5 active Wrs for the game.

I actually saw where Babe said the receivers were open a few times and Romo just missed them. All that with the Giants selling out against the pass.

We just had bad QB play Sunday night.

Crayton also had a couple passes that were perfectly thrown and he just missed them. One for a TD and another for a first down on third down.

Sure did, but that doesn't apply to Catch17's agenda.

I am all for this move as well. Sometimes young guys can come out of nowhere and give a team a spark. Bennett did it a few times last year. I like Ogletree and I know he can catch the ball when it hits his hands. I cnnot say that about Austin, Hurd, or especially Crayton.

i would also like to see him get some real action, however:

does anyone here remember what he did on special teams in the preseason?

i'm asking b/c i remember him returning some kicks but i don't remember how he did on coverage teams.

that is a big key for him being activated b/c who would be taken off the 45 man roster and would there be a drop in special teams production?

let's just look at it from the perspective of the receivers:

Roy and Crayton are not being deactivated.

that leaves Austin & Hurd. Austin seems to be locked in as the 3rd receiver right now, and has made plays when he gets the ball. he's also the primary backup on kickoff returns, and has played on all coverage units since his rookie year.

Hurd on the other hand has not gotten a lot of playing time as a WR thus far, but according to the stats got the most special teams tackles on the team against Tampa, and he's a solid special teams player.

Again i want to clarify that i would like to see Ogletree get some time at WR, but i have to wonder if the team thinks he's proficient enough in special teams to replace another special teams player on the 45 man gameday roster.

I would like to think that with Buehler out there, he would maybe give us some flexibility with is touchbacks and his actual tackling ability.

wow, I see The Danny Amendola crowd has shown up....
Olgetree doesn't see the field this year unless there is an injury to one or two receivers..

There were plenty of receivers open in the Giants game but Romo would rather throw it to the other team or try to throw it into double coverage instead

Apparently, your problem is that you have an opinion.

If there is one overused catch phrase around here, it is "agenda".

Don't like what someone says, accuse them of "having an agenda". It is very witty, original and oh so profound.

I suppose some think that makes their own opinion "agendaless" and makes them somehow more "unbiased" but it really is an idiotic cop-out to discussing the issues.

The only agenda anyone has around here is for the Cowboys to win more and get better.

All in all, that's what everyone wants and some need to give it a rest with the other holier than thou stupidity.

Lol, these is the same criticism Manningham got last year and he's doing just fine.
Give the kid a chance, he played against the 49ers starting defense and got 2 good receptions.

Crayton has some of the best hands on the team. Still, he isn't going to catch every pass. Ogletree is an undrafted rookie, he isn't going to do much. :banghead:

The Giants appeared to play a lot of cover-2 coverage so they were taking away the outside deeper routes. So in thery, the middle and flats should've been open. The best way to beat this type of coverage is to run the ball, which we did, AND dink-n-dunk passing game, which Romo has proven to be unwilling to do.

Crayton did drop that first down conversion. The TD pass had an awful lot of chili on it when it didn't need to. That was a case where neither the QB or the WR executed well.

Yeah, Barber's 52 receptions for 417 yards last year weren't check downs. They were planned fly patterns!

Blame Jerry for cutting 38 td's.
