Let's be critically honest about this offense

WE are a run first team. Thats not a myth. All coaches does not include Garrett. He believes more in the process more so that having an explosive offensive.

Or lack of points problem is not Dak. We even had this problem back when Tony was playing also.

Garrett's offense is predicated on ball control using the run, short passing, kicking field goals. Only when we have to score during the waning moments of the game is when Dak gets to be himself and score points. The same offense affected Romo as well. It was not until Romo was given more control of the offense that we started to be more effective.

Our problem is coaching. Not Dak, not the players. Get rid of our head coach, we would solve the biggest problem with our offense.
We are a run first team because we HAVE to not because we WANT to.
Yes we need new coaches that I can agree with. Dak.... No so sure. He's a reason why we are a run first team instead of balanced team.

I agree, He is an important part but even in games where he is over 100 we don't win unless the passing game has been at least effective. This past game with 1:51 remaining Dak had to step up and make the throws including a 3rd and 8 to Gallup on the sideline to keep the drive alive. It took a big play by Beasley to get us in range for the game winner FG. Zeke is a critical part of this team but he is not doing in alone.

Yep and all those little plays the underneath dump off's to Zeke the comback routes by Gallup and Cooper, Swaim catching and rumbling for a first, the OL blocking both for the run and the pass - everything works as one cohesive unit. They win and lose as a team. But this is how it goes today - we win it's only because of Zeke, we lose, it's only because of Dak.

The offense could only score 22 against one of the worst defenses in the NFL giving up 27 ppg.

Yes, the defense has improved and seems to be the strength of the team but the name of the game is points. And it is not a shut down defense.

Elliott is playing great and the OL seems to be better; however, our run game is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Scoring in the low 20's isn't going to get it done.

The reality is that the Cowboys have beaten two 2nd tier non playoff teams with losing records that are pretty evenly matched with them as the scores would indicate. And it is great to put two wins back to back and away at that; however, this team is not a tier 1 team.
Bease dropped a TD, something he'll do 1 out 100 times. DAL missed an XP and that's 27.
If you are controlling the clock, snapping it on 10 every play and generally playing 1984 Bears ball you aren't going to run it up very often.

But if you lead essentially the entire game and get the W that's all that matters.

We kinda all hate this style and execution based old school ball but it is what it is and if it wins, it wins.
I'll gladly toast when a new style in brought in the door.
But I'll celebrate victories when they come regardless because I can only control my attitude toward the games.

You’d have to apply the points that shouldn’t have counted against them too if you want a true read.

When Matt Ryan throws an INT that is returned to the 1-yard line, the ensuing TD is not the defense’s fault.

You’re “special” and I won’t judge you. You can count the tolls the drivers pay and you usually know how much change to give back. I’m thrilled for you!

You want to add points not actually scored to what Dallas did and say “voila, they scored the same, sort of, as the average of what teams have done against Dallas.”

Except they didn’t. It’s nothing more than a feeble attempt at manipulating the stats.

It’s ok. We all make mistakes.

No rebuttal to my point about the Falcons and their 27 PPG, which is what YOU originally brought up?

How very telling. LOL!

Sigh.....

Your original post to whomever... was chastising someone because with “missed points” added to what Dallas actually scored, they met the average. That ignores the fact that we aren’t the only team that had left points off the board. So if you want to include that for Dallas, you need to include it for everyone.

This isn’t hard to figure out.

#7 with a Diet Pepsi. To go.

Diet Pepsi? That doesn’t make up for your triple cheeseburger, fat boy.

If YOU want to go back and recount the Falcons D’s PPG, you’d have to look at everything. The points they were lucky to avoid allowing AND the points they allowed that wasn’t on them.

Durrrrrr a 1-play, 1-yard TD drive!!! Falcons D sucks!!!!!!

The kicker missing a PAT is not an indictment of the offense. In fact, it has zero to do with our offense.

Cole Beasley, a VERY sure handed WR, dropping a TD is not an indictment of the offense. It was Beasley’s 1st drop of the SEASON.

Lay off the fatty foods and go back to school.

I wasn’t the one who thought of using the flawed logic of adding points not scored to what they actually scored.

That was your brain child. It was especially comical you tried ripping into someone with that sorry idea.

I said you should do it for all of their games if you are going to do that, to be consistent.

I agree with you however here is the reality

Garrett is likely safe no matter what
If we make the playoffs it is very possible even Linehan is safe

We had a little window where we might have seen real change if we had lost to both Philly and Atlanta

Now there is no chance
We should beat skins with their back up and bucs and Giants who are horrible
Even if we are one and done in the playoffs it will be sold as "progress"

Get used to second tier for the foreseeable future

LOLLLL wow.

The original post said that our offense is broken because we only scored 22 vs the Falcons.

I pointed out how silly it was to reach such a conclusion based on a game in which we essentially screwed ourselves out of 5 points that the offense should’ve had.

Beasley dropping a surefire TD (which had never happened and will never happen again in his career) doesn’t mean the offense sucks.

Maher missing a PAT has nothing to do with the offense.

Are you really this remedial?

Your rebuttal was stupid. If you’re going to re-tally the Falcons D’s performance, why wouldn’t you re-tally EVERYTHING to get the true read?

We should only re-tally to include plays the Falcons D got lucky on? Why? Why not ALSO include the ones they got screwed on?

Because it destroys your weak little argument, that’s why. LOL!

We’ll see what we are against the Saints. We haven’t beat an above .500 team yet.

Lol...why are you worried about points it only takes 1 more than the opponent to win...lol

We should be used to it by now. Cowboys smell from the head down. This is our destiny with the Football Idiot.

They are 5-5 because they are terrible at throwing the football.

I think there are a few reasons why they are 5-5 but the passing game certainly accounts for a lot of it, IMO. Some teams you are simply not going to be able to run Zeke right down the field on. Atlanta is not one of those teams. Our Defense played really well against them and they flat out could not stop Zeke. Why in the world we wouldn't just run it all day on them is beyond me, to tell the truth. I don't know why we try and out think ourselves in situations like that. And it's really weird, we seem to do that a lot. IDK.

OMG, how many times have I heard the theme song "defense wins SB" on here or on the old forum??!! Too many times to count! You may not have been one singing that song Coach but remember the "war daddy" refrain, "have to have play making CB's" refrain, "have to strengthen the LB'er position" at any cost, "we're spending too much on offense and particularly the O-line"? I remember all of those.

The refrain that defense wins games was said so many times over the past few years when our defense was not very good and now that it's good where are we? Wanting to score more points because TRULY it is offense that wins games! Scoring points is the game unless you have a "steel curtain", " the Ditka defense" or "the Dungy Tampa defense". From what I see, there aren't any of those in the 2018 NFL. The top echelon teams like the Chiefs, Rams and Saints score points in gobs and have very porous defenses! For all those fans who have moaned about our defense over the past and preach that defense wins games I say BULL CRAP, not in todays NFL!

You're right Coach we don't have a top echelon offense but we have one of the top defenses and we'll see how far it takes us. Personally I prefer a top 5 offense and a top 10-15 defense but what do I know. Enough of my rant but to all those that have bemoaned the shape of our defense over the years, live with what ya got. Can't suck and blow at the same time

Curious, what is the reason to post that tweet? One throws the ball, the other dumps it off. It's like claiming your v8 truck gets 40mpg because at idle the mpg display says so.

You would think that when we did pass we would just playaction all of the time too.
