Do teams, as the season goes along, move between tiers? So today's tier 2 could be tomorrows tier 4 or the back side of tier 1? Or, where in tier 2 do they fall. If they are the top team in tier 2 does comparing them to the bottom tier 1 reveal they are close enough to swap positions if those two teams played head's up?
And, are the top tier always the best teams who make the play-offs?
1995 Dallas could not beat the 9ers. They had struggled with them through 1994 and all of 1995.
Green Bay beat the 9ers, then came to Dallas. Dallas owned Brett Favre and the Packers during that era. Dallas won then won the Super Bowl.
Now all of those teams were top tier. And if we assumed the results would be the same, had Dallas been forced to play the 9ers before Green bay, then Green Bay would have won the NFC Championship game and then the Super Bowl.
Now I understand that is skewed to fit my example. But I think it also shows the tiers are dependent on who plays who.
So can Dallas eke into the play-offs and meet the right opponent for them and move on to the second round?
Last point....the ball is pointy on both ends, which sometimes changes the outcome that doesn't fit tier this or that.
