Lets face it - No one knows who/when we are drafting

I guess I don't understand the purpose of this thread. Miami is the only team that even remotely knows who they are going to draft and even that could change if the right trade came along. Jerry and company have a list of players that they could draft depending on how things fall. This is no different than everyone doing their own mocks.

You have players valued throughout each round of the draft. You assume certain players will be taken by certain teams, helping you weed out players and come to some degree of certainty who would be available and who you would take at the given picks. It's the exact same process as any franchise, the only difference is the values you put on the players may be different because of the limited 'scouting' available.

If a top 10 value player drops to #22, I think Jones is flexible enough to adjust his draft to take this into account by either selecting the player even though we might not need him or trade down a few spots to add more picks. But once again, no one at Valley Ranch knows who we are drafting. They have an idea, but so do we.

Fair enough... :)

So you can honestly say that THIS draft is the same as any other of our drafts... "business as usual"

The only difference between this draft and years' past is the expectations of the picks taken. The perception has changed because many feel that we are one player away from a Lombardi and are questioning which of our three picks in the first two rounds that WOW player comes.

Every year, franchises come up with a list of players and their pick value range. They try to project who will be availabe at their slot and may even trade up if it looks like a player they target is in danger of being drafted or try to trade down if there are several players they like and feel they can pick up another draft pick in the process. The only thing that has changed is the time per pick in the first two rounds, the player depth at each position and the fact that Dallas is on the cusp of Superbowl glory.

The draft process hasn't changed, just the perception. IMO at least.

Thats not the only difference. There is concern that Jerry may be willing to trade both #1's and a player or another pick for McFadden.

Agreed on the 2nd part somewhat.

Sorry Charlie. Fact is... right now neither one of us is right or wrong.
Addressing weaknesses through FA doesnt fit in this thread. Cant have it both ways.

Can't have what both ways? I don't even know what we're talking about now.

Yeah, it was much more fun when Parcells was here and we could at least narrow it down to Jersey Guys, Italians, blood relatives of former players, and Northeasterners.

Now we don't know who the heck we might take.

I don't really agree with this too much. I think that I can say with significant confidence that if there was a TE in Thailand who was able to block and play hurt, we would have probably taken him in the 1st three rounds regardless of geographical liniage or ancestral ties.

How's that any different than other drafts? Haven't we tried to move up before? Weren't there rumors that Jerry Jones had called Adrain Peterson just before the draft to confirm his phone number?

The only difference that I see between this year's draft and others is the perception. Whether it's the perception that Jerry likes McFadden and happens to have extra ammo, the fact that Parcells and Ireland have moved on, the feeling that we are one player away from the Superbowl or simply the fact that some positions that are usually strong are pretty weak and vice versa.

Eh, I was going to but decided to just go right on living my life instead.

I don't think this draft is any different from others, but you're right. Draft analysts should probably all hang it up.

Between the consensus that there are no real #1 picks this year and that most teams boards are radically different from each other AND that we have no idea what Jerry is gonna do....

The draft is truly a mystery this year.

Does the rest of the board know this? That we have no idea what Jerra is gonna do? That the draft is truly a mystery?

I am awed at the power of deduction and reasoning from which all this came out. . . .

Wow... I thought that would get by you......

Point being... when someone fails to make their point they dont have time to go and read the flow of the posts when they are wrong. I have been wrong a few times... others have been wrong(like you).

Not a big deal.

I have said it before... I dont trust Jerry. I think he has wanted DMac since last years draft and has been on a mission... so(see sig)....

I have heard some on here say that Felix it too similar to Julius - so we wont take him.

Your other picks - your guess is as good as mine...wait I dont have any LOL

You are mean. :laugh2:
