I've been critical of Garrett and Jerry but I think they played Sunday just right. They saw the bigger picture:
1. Didn't care about the rookie rushing record. Rested Zeke last 2 weeks

2. Kept our most important defensive player Lee on the bench.

3. Kept Leary out nagging injuries.

4. Showcased Romo one drive. Knocked the rust off and showed the league if you want him it's going to cost.

5. Dez, Dak and Witten got some snaps but got out before anything bad could happen.

6. Played Sanchez now they know what they got with him. A dumpster fire. Made Weeden and Cassell look like Marino.

7. The Seven inactives should be all back for the playoffs.

Yep, I think they handled it correctly. Part of me still wishes they kept the starters in for a half, though, because that was an easy win sitting there, but I'd rather have a healthy team heading into the playoffs.

Good points on all, except I tend to disagree a little with #6. Sanchez had 2 missing OL, Morris and Dunbar at RB, No Witten, no Dez, no TWill for the most part.
Defense with all back ups and a guy just signed in Ash knowing nothing of this D.
Coaches that weren't really trying to do what it took to win. They wanted to get out healthy, and just get the heck out of there.

still very vexed on the Romo dilemma. On one hand I am glad he was able to do his thing and torch the eagles' secondary without taking a hit. On the other hand the question still remains on whether he CAN take a hit and survive injury

He threw a pick on a screen. His bad, no one else's.

How many yards did he lose on a scramble......? A backwards scramble?

He will commit the ultimate sin for a QB and lose games.

Dude shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football, IMO.

I didn't say he should be kept...was just saying what he had to work with.
On that screen, did someone miss an assignment, and he had to throw it. Yes, he could have thrown it away. The scramble....easy for us to sit here and criticize...on the field he was trying to make something happen. If he would have just went down after 10 yard, or 5, people would sit here arm chair GM-ing finding fault no matter what.

He's had plenty to work with during his tenure in the NFL. He loses games. Can't blame anyone but him.

Arm chair quarterbacking him is easy....That's what he is.

I didn't mention you wanted to keep him, BTW.

I think Romo showed enough in his limited time to prove the "rust" paranoia was simply that.

Keeping Lee out was an adequate precaution but he's never played a 16-game regular season. How far into the future will it take for his critics to weakly claim that 2016 is another example of him not being able to handle a full season load?

I'll give Jerry Jones credit for putting his ego aside even if it was for a Jerry guy in Garrett. I still and will always blame Jerry for wasting the latter half of Aikmans career with puppets and piss poor decisions.

So for him to give Garrett this much time to build a team and culture is a tip of the cap for me. Thank you.

It still counted on his stat line because he was active and suited up. So it still shows that 2016 he played all 16 games

I'd gave given him that one snap just to qualify for that full season. I think it means something for a player with his injury history. We all know the truth, but I still think that one snap to make it 'official' would have been the way I'd go. Just my opinion.

lol. True but I would bet dollars to donuts at least one of his critics will surface one day saying something like, "Lee's injury-prone! They didn't even trust him enough to stay healthy in the last game of 2016!" :p
