Let's go get Lavar Arrington he would be a good fit here

I think he's been mis-cast as a 4-3 OLB ever since coming into the league. His style of play (and his high salary) are a much better fit for a 3-4 scheme.

If you look at the stats of your typical 4-3 OLB, they're just usually not that good. They don't make a lot of sacks and if they're good in coverage, a lot of the time, balls don't even come in their direction.

The one year that Lewis used him like he should be used (pass rusher), he put up good numbers with what, like 11 sacks.

Put Lavar in a situation where he primarily goes after the QB on passing downs and I think you'd have a very good player. If he is sent after the QB, with Ware coming on the other side, I think it's a very good situation for getting to the QB.

He's just been over-paid because you don't pay a 4-3 OLB that kind of money. In a 4-3 the DE's are the difference makers and the one's who get to the QB. Just like in the early 90's with Haley at DE and Norton at OLB. Haley got all of the sacks and Norton just ran to the ball and made tackles. So I've said for years that Washington overpaid Lavar because he was never going to be a star player at OLB in their 4-3.

In a 3-4, the game changers are typically at OLB and they're worth big money. They're the ones making sacks and crashing through the line on running plays. IMO, Lavar would fit well into that role and his athletic ability would help him make game changing plays there.

I don't think you can look at Lavar's past history in the NFL and say that's the production you'll get from him now because we'd have him playing in a 3-4 while he's always played in the 4-3 prior to this.

The bottom line is that if Parcells brings him in... he must think that Arrington could make a big difference for us at our SOLB and will use Lavar towards his strengths. If Bill doesn't bring him in then he probably doesn't think it's a good idea.

I'm fine with whichever happens.

My money is on the Chargers.

You might be right ...haven't heard much from them about the interest. I think we'll know something solid by this Saturday.

Could you imagine him and D Ware?Parcells would be haveing flash backs of LT.It would be nice to throw in a Corey Chavous or Lawyer Milloy also.Anybody body but a Dante Culpepper pick up I would give the thumbs up to?

Why do people keep screaming for Laverne when he went on tv and told the world he did not want to play for the Cowboys. He wanted to stay in the NFLE but not with Dallas. This means to get him we would have to overpay for him to agree to play for a team he doesn't like.

I personally want players that want to play for the Cowboys.

Wow. What could possibly make you say that?

1) He is a former Commander :)
2) The problems he has had over the course of his career.
3) Buying out his contract to leave.
4) Comments he makes when something doesn't go his way.
5) Injuries.

I think he is a bigger risk than TO to be honest and I think TO is a big risk.

Arrington is a thug

I agree with that concept.

Didn't Keyshaun say he wasn't going to play for Parcells?
What? He said that Parcells was his favorite coach and that he would love to play for him again. That was part of what got him kicked off the Bucs.

If Arrington isn't on a plane as we speak, he's staying on the East Coast. That mean either, the Eagles, Giants or Ravens. Believe he was quoted as saying he wants to remain on an NFCE team.

Speaking of planes, wouldn't it be unfortunate if Commander One had a couple of punctured tires late Friday evening?

Oh yea, one more thing:

Well, THAT I can understand. ;)

2) The problems he has had over the course of his career.

Elaborate?

3) Buying out his contract to leave.

He got out of a bad situation for himself, where he obviously was not wanted. He still got to keep alot of money, and he'll likely get more in free agency with the new cap in place. I think that was a decent decision by him.

4) Comments he makes when something doesn't go his way.

This I cannot agree with. The guy is nothing but professional when adversity hits. He took a ton of crap this year, and kept it straight for weeks, even though it was apparent he was being held out of games for no reason. In all interviews, he said the right stuff, and he never really lashed out against the coaching staff. TO would have lost his mind.

5) Injuries.

Also a legitimate point. But, he does have age on TO, and he should be OK now.

Arrington is a thug

Again, this is not even close to being accurate. No matter how much we all hate the Commanders, they're not ALL like Sean Taylor. Arrington is a really good guy.

Even if I am wrong about him he will demand big bucks. He will probably go to the Giants.

I am not one of "you people". I don't want LaVar here. But you can't just make statements like 2 sacks and 2 years, without mentioning the factors behind those numbers, as if they're some be all-end all. Marvin Lewis knew what he was, and used him correctly. Joe Pa did the same. It CAN work. I really doubt that Lewis or Williams have ever said anything even remotely resembling "I hate LaVar Arrington" either.....

Lewis and Williams are on record with alot of anti-Arrington statements

and its 1 sack in two seasons...sure he's been hurt but so what? the fact is he belongs on any "all overrated" list...the guy is a knucklehead on the field

I know Lewis has talked about Arrington's lack of discipline, but he never said anything approaching a hatred or dislike of Arrington, which was your original assertion. If you can find any such statements for either coach, I'd be very surprised. Lewis also proved that Arrington can be a huge success IF you use him correctly. If he goes to a 3-4 team that can do that, I'd look out.

Former Commander. I didn't want an argument, persay....I just wanted to know where you were getting some of that stuff. I live near DC, and listen to alot of sports radio up here, and everything I hear from Arrington just seems contrary to what you were saying.

If we get him, I'm not gonna be thrilled, but I'm not gonna be mad either. He could be fantastic on a 3-4, or he could continue to underachieve. I just hope we let someone else (in the AFC) take that chance.
