OK I have the flu today so I'm a little bored; I thought a little name association game would be fun. I'll start on offense and name the best QB in Cowboys history and why. No real rules to this, you can agree to disagree but it's not a debate, just a simple list of what each you thinks is the best 22 starters in Cowboys history: one at a time. Obviously we won't all name the 22 so let's do it one post per player and go from there.

1) Roger Staubach: this is like trying to pick Halle Berry or Kate Bosworth; I love me some Aikman, but I go wtih Roger due to his scrambling ability, leadership and getting it done with a little less talented surrounding cast than Aikman did. Next.........Running Back...............what say you?

2) As much as I liked Emmitt(not in the broadcasting arena), I liked Tony Dorsett better. Fast, elusive, quick and a game changer.

I like this offense, Hos, but my "youth" causes my to put Drew Pearson in Hayes' spot and I like Mark Stepnoski as my Center.

I also like this defense, dbair, but the historian in me couldn't put Lett ahead of Bob Lilly or Norton ahead of Lee RoyJordan (even though, like yourself, I hadn't seen too much of them)!

No center?

I like Leon Lett as a back up. He could not handle the pressure of being a starter although he was immensely talented. I thought he did well in his brief stints at DE. It is too bad he had his immaturity/drug issues or however you want to characterize it because he could have been one of the greats.

I never saw either of them play, and whle I know they were awesome I just based it on who I saw play

I had Stepnoski in there, must have deleted over him when I was editing

My first Cowboy memories begin at 1982....my first trip to Texas Stadium.

QB: Troy Aikman-- never saw Roger
RB: Emmitt Smith--although TD may be my favorite Cowboy player of all-time.
FB: Dom Perkins
WR: Drew Pearson
WR: Michael Irvin (who gets #88?)
TE: Doug Cosbie
RT: Rayfield Wright
RG: Larry Allen
C: Tom Rafferty
LG: Nate Newton
LT: Flozell Adams

DE: Harvey Martin
DE: Too Tall Jones
DT: Randy White
DT: Bob Lilly
LB: Demarcus Ware
LB: Chuck Howley
LB: Lee Roy Jordan
CB: Everson Walls
CB: Deion Sanders
S: Cliff Harris
S: Darren Woodson

Punter: Danny White
Kicker: Septien was a great kicker...Maybe one of our best. But I can't put a child molester on this team. I'll go Boniol

Of course I had a tough time with Troy over Roger. But I think Troy would pick apart anyone behind this line.

We have a great legacy of TEs here. Witten, Novacek, Cosbie, Dupree, Ditka...I went with Cosbie because.....I guess no one else did.

Even though I never saw guys like Lilly, Harris, Jordan, or Howley play; they're pretty much Cowboy legends.

Danny White as a punter works well. He wasn't too bad in that capacity.

You failed to put a slot for special teams, where of course Bill Bates belongs.
