You know what I love best about this thread.
That no opposing fan can post a list that holds a candle to it.

With that in mind, how about an actual 40 man roster that would play 5 games in a hypothetical all-time NFL 32 team tornament.

QB Staubach
QB Aikman
RB Smith
RB Dorsett
RB Thomas
FB Johnston
WR Irvin
WR Owens
WR Hayes
WR Pearson
TE Witten
TE Cosbie
OT Adams
OT Williams
OT Wright
OG Allen
OG Newton
OG Scott
OC Stepnoski
K Septein

DE Martin
DE Jones
DE Haley
DT White
DT Lett
DT Lilly
OLB Henderson
OLB Ware
OLB Howley
MLB Jordan
MLB Nortan
CB Sanders
CB Renfro
CB Walls
CB Green
FS Harris
FS Downs
SS Woodson
SS Waters
P D. White

Please someone give another franchise 40 man roster to compete.

I don't thinks anyone but batman and rampage actually read the OP.

I'll got with Big LA. Larry Allen. I don't think we've ever had any other player be that dominant at a position for that long.

Hos, the only two spots I would change on your squad is Step at center and Eric Williams at T. Williams was insane before his accident (NO one else ever made Reggie White his bi*** like he did) and Step was so good at holding and very rarely ever got caught and was also a master at leverage.

Here is my all-time Cowboys roster (starter & backup):

QB: Roger Staubach - Troy Aikman
RB: Emmitt Smith - Tony Dorsett
FB: Don Perkins - Walt Garrison
TE: Jay Novacek - Billy Joe DuPree
WR: Bob Hayes, Michael Irvin - Drew Pearson, Tony Hill
C: Mark Stepnoski - Dave Manders
OG: Larry Allen, John Niland - Nate Newton, Herb Scott
OT: Rayfield Wright, Erik Williams - Pat Donovan, Mark Tuinei
K: Rafael Septien
P: Danny White

CB: Mel Renfro, Everson Walls - Cornell Green, Michael Downs
S: Charlie Waters, Cliff Harris - Darren Woodson, Dennis Thurman
MLB: Lee Roy Jordan - Bob Bruenig
OLB: Chuck Howley, Dave Edwards - Jerry Tubbs, D.D. Lewis
DT: Bob Lilly, Randy White - Jethro Pugh, Leon Lett
DE: George Andrie, Ed Jones - Harvey Martin, Tony Tolbert

To make MY team the player had to have played for the Cowboys for at least 7 years so that eliminates many of the current players from consideration.

I went with Perkins & Garrison at FB over Moose because I would run an offense that utilizes the FB as a runner and receiver as well as a blocker. He is on my 53-man roster though.

I went with Danny White as my punter because he is also my 3rd string QB.

I would have liked to have Kevin Smith as one of my CBs but he only played 6 seasons for us and doesn't make the cut.

You are right, I didn't read it that carefully, I just went along with what others were doing. DOH!:

In that case I will nominate:

Bob Lilly (big surprise there huh?). He was the most dominant DT to ever play the game IMO.

I think this is what I would go with personally. Most are all right there and cant go wrong either way. Man look at all these awesome players. Wonder how many team can play with line ups like that and have several versions of super teams. Defense seems set in stone, but many options for RB, WR and Oline. Some incredible players have played in Dallas. No wonder were spoiled. :star:

and to think I only did it out of boredom and sickness......love Hos' list, although I agree, I've got to go with Big E at tackle and Step at center as well. God what a list of players and people. (In answer to your question Sonnyboy....SF could challenge on offense, but NOT defense IMO. Pittsburgh could challenge on both.......hate them, but it's true!

You can bring in several players at virtually every position and have little drop off.
