Let's just get this out of the way

Lose this game and you deserve all that the media can handle in "rubbing it in" and they will.

Lose this game and play out the season and look forward to next year, because the schedule isnt easy and every game counts, starting with the Giants.

Yes this game is very important and yes it creates a faux play off hope if we lose.

It cannot be emphazied enough to the players that they need to win.

If you lose, go home, stay home.

You not only have to win, you have to win convincinly because if not, there will be no fear with the upcoming teams.

Any fan who does not get this, does not understand the sport, the meaning, or what this game means. Win and you win your confidence and your place amongst the winners, lose and ill see you at home.

A loss would not be the nail in the coffin for Dallas. What it would do is make the race for the division much closer and keeps the Giants in the race. A Dallas win keeps us comfortably in the driver seat and pretty much seals the Giants fate on the season.

The OP is whistling through the graveyard. I haven't paid attention to the member's list of the gloom and doomers and sunshine crews, but this is a homer post from the word go.

It's Monday and the damage control is already rolling in for the possible loss 6 days from now. Pathetic, IMHO. "Let's just get this out of the way", indeed.

For what it's worth, if the Cowboys lose to a Giants team that has lost 5 of it's last 6 games and playing as horribly as they have played over the past 50 days then, yes, Dallas is a pretender. No two ways about it. Playoff caliber teams win these games. Now, it doesn't mean that the Cowboys will miss the playoffs if they don't win but it shows that they don't have the character, execution, discipline, etc. to be successful in a playoff atmosphere. The only time the Cowboys have faced a team that was fighting for their season (Green Bay) we got thumped. Forget final scores and garbage touchdowns. We got our ***** whipped. This week is a chance for them to step up and manhandle a division foe and end their playoff hopes. Get it done and they take a step closer to validity. Fail and they are what many posters around here whine about what the media says they are. Your six day advance damage control post will do absolutely nothing to change that.

The Giants should beat us down pretty well. They get better in December and we regularly get worse. I expect us to be the same old December Cowboys/Romo come Sunday.

You mean losing to a solid team on the road doesn't mean impending doom? What? There must be some mistake.

The thing is, the Giants aren't all that solid. 1-5 in their last 6.

I guess if calling them a solid team gives a built-in excuse for some, have at it.

I refuse to feel any better about a potential loss because the opposition is "solid" or "desperate", or both.

People shrugged off the Packer loss because they were "desperate" like that's some sort of consolation prize.

"Ah man, don't worry about it. Their backs were against the wall, ya know. They just needed the game more".

I call BS to that and I call BS about losing to a "solid team on the road". If you are the better team in a position to stomp someone out, you do so. That's what good teams do because when playoffs arrive, if you can't be the stomper, you get to be someone else's stompee.

All teams are desperate with their backs against the wall in the playoffs. Figure out a way now or pay the price later.

For my 4000 th post I will simply state, we need to come out and dominate this game and play to our talent level and show some killer instinct.

What is Dallas' talent level?

8-8?

It will be the same old same old.... If we beat them they stunk already anyway and we have proven nothing.

If we lose however it is going to take great toughness to make the end of the season a successful one IMO.

I think they have had some games this year that have improved their toughness so I am excited to see if that bears some fruit!

I can't remember. Who is your team?

Guess they don't ban stupidity, but they can ban trolls.

Call BS all you want. The better team doesn't win every week, and all three things Mick said in his post are true. Losing this game wouldn't mean we suck, or can't make the playoffs, or are doomed in December. We could still go 4-1 in our last five games even if we lose this one.

Or we could do what we normally do and drop 3 of the remaining 5 games in typical December Cowboys/Romo style.

You can always hope

What has taken place in the past can't be changed but it also has no bearing on what may or may not take place this season.

Nobody in Cowboysland would love to be proven wrong more than me. It would certainly make me feel better about writing that yearly season ticket check going into next year.

All I can say is what has happened before can't be changed, this is not the same team one who is dealing with in house problems and bickering. I don't know what the outcome will be, Dallas will face some good teams and for me I look forward to the challenge in front of them and think they are good enough to match up with these teams.

True, we're going to find out what type of team we have over the next five weeks.

If we lose to the Giants Sunday:
1. It doesn't mean we are frauds.
2. It doesn't automatically mean we will have a below .500 record in December
3. It doesn't mean we won't go to the Playoffs

I'm hearing some of this at work today and it is somewhat surprising to hear fans say this.

The Giants are not a bad football team and they are certainly capable of beating the Cowboys, especially with them being at home and extremely desperate at this point.

I would be very disappointed if we lost the game but I don't think it means any of the 3 things I mentioned above.
Have you forgotten the "broader perspectives" of 2008? It means all of that and more. ;)

So you say we are going 0-5 in December? Let's put a huge bet on it. Name the stakes.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, you are 3-8 on the season.

This one game against the Giants has nothing to do with the "Broader Perspective". whatsoever

The "Broader Perspective" or "someone's entire resume" is something to be taken into account when evaluating whether Wade Phillips deserves to keep his job or if he has the ability to lead this team to the promise land.

Yes, I understand Dallas is I believe 1-3 against teams with a winning record (at least that is what was being said on the radio after we beat the Raiders on).

All I'm saying is people are setting themselves up for failures if they think the Giants aren't capable of beating us, or the Saints, or the Vikings or anyone else in the NFL when playing at home with their backs against the wall.

If we get swept by the Giants, it doesn't mean we don't deserve to make the Playoffs.

If we lose, the season isnt over as we could potentially go 4-1 or 3-2 the rest of the way, but these are the kinds of games good teams go out and win. The Giants have played poorly for basically 5 weeks now and are extremely fortunate to be 6-5. If we're a "good" team, we should win this game.
