You could always start a thread about how signing Sean Peyton would take us to the Superbowl. That would be good for a few laughs as well.
Look at our schedule. Do you know what the Titans, Giants, and Eagles all have in common that we can't seem to stop?

I'm aware of the remaining schedule. I included that in my analysis. That's why I stated that I think we will finish on a 4-4 run down the stretch, which should net us a playoff spot, but that's probably as far as we go.

Okay Rusty as pissed off as I am I'm going to look at this rationally

We had an extra week to prepare for this team and are coaching staff did not get us prepared mentally or physically.

Our receivers were not on the same page as our quarterback and this is inexcusable after a bye week to prepare this led to two interceptions and set the stage for our demise at lambeau Field.

We were not mentally prepared seeming to get unsportsman-like conduct penalties on the special teams every time we were punted the ball we would start deep in our own and because stupid penalties. Along with of course idiot Tolbert who couldn't get lined up with the ball.

The league has our defense's number and realizes we can't stop the run at all we have been exposed and will only continue to be further exposed in this area trust me this will not get better even if we do make the playoffs.

Our coaching was not aggressive it was desperate and sad to watch.

But beyond all that Green Bay is a bad team right now and we had a great chance to win but as always the referees were not going to let that happen. They sealed our loss to a bad Green Bay team in lambeau Field.

Weighing all this rationally if we do manage to lock into the playoffs it will be a quick exit and pretty much a repeat of last year unfortunately.

And I'm expecting a quick exit. I think we make the playoffs, and then we end up just being a speed bump for another team.

Also, Sean Payton won't make a difference, even if he did get hired here.

Thread 2 for the night

Yes, the loss hurt tonight. Trust me, I've been a fan since either the 1999 or 2000 season. I've yet to see success with this franchise. I know it's demoralising to lose the way that we did today. However, let's take a moment to look at this rationally. Ok?

  • Green Bay - Green Bay is a team that was desperate for a win. With Minnesota winning as they have been and a favourable schedule for the rest of the season when they finish with us, Green Bay likely was aware coming into this game that their chances of winning their division is slipping away. Furthermore, their chances at a wildcard aren't great either. So, we were taking on a team who was playing desperately for a win. They played great, and they always play us at their best. So, if we thought we were going to get an easy win coming into today, then that's a massive error. Especially given our less than stellar record as a franchise in that stadium.
  • Our Record - We are 6-3. Yes, our division is difficult, but we are 6-3. Considering that we had a backup QB playing for 4 games and how we thought this season would go after the Bucs game, it's an impressive record. We should be in position for at least a playoff spot.
  • The Division - the division was going to be hard to win as it was. We are likely getting a wildcard spot, and I don't think the outcome of today's game was reasonably going to change that outcome.
  • The remaining schedule - after the Vikings game, our remaining schedule is the following: Giants (Thanksgiving), Colts, @ Jacksonville, Houston, Philly, @ Tennessee, and @ Washington. So, let's assume we lose the Vikings game, that's a favourable schedule afterwards. I think, after the Vikings game, I could see us going 4-3 or even 5-2 down the stretch (unsure how we will do with the Giants). Let's say we go 4-4 for the rest of the season. That means that we would finish the regular season 10-7. Given that 7 NFC Teams make the playoffs, that should net us a playoff spot. That's in likely the worst case scenario. So, I think, at worst, we finish the season 10-7 with a playoff spot. Coincidentally, I think that's about where a lot of optimistic predictions had this team funny enough. So, all in all, things aren't horrible for the Cowboys. Are they ideal? No. But we should be able to get a playoff spot.
In conclusion, as painful as it is to lose to a team we don't like such as Green Bay in the way that we did, the season isn't lost. We played a team that was desperate for a win and caught us on a bad day. However, in the worst rational scenario that I can see, I think that we should finish as a 10 win team minimum. This should get us a playoff spot. From there, anything can happen. Hopefully the team will get back to work tomorrow to learn from what happened, and they can sort out some solutions to our weaknesses such as our run defence and get back to winning ways.

The team will likely get a WC spot. And promptly get bounced. The fundamental flaw of getting gashed in the running game is too much to overcome when you pair that with a good opposing QB which you will definitely face in the playoff.

Sadly, that's probably all Jerry wants, isn't it? Just making the playoffs means more money for him.

Matt Ryan scrambled for 39 on a key 3rd and 3 in the Colts win . On that 4th down if the initial defender can be avoided # 4 had nothing but Wisconsin real estate in front of him .

Wasn’t it just last season # 10 went into Minny Soda and the Cowboys came out on top . This is Kirk Cousins under center . This is a critical must have win along with the Giants game . Time to leave this bitter pill in the rear view mirror .

Agreed with that. It'll be important to win this game and certainly the Giants game.

November has always been tough since we play so many games in a short span. Two on the road games before a Thursday game is tough. The season is long and every team has a lull at some point. If we beat Minny and Gents in the next week GB is forgotten.

Quinn however needs to figure out the run D. How can Damone Clark play 33 snaps in his very first game and than barely used in this game? Where is Cox? It’s time to mix it up and maybe play a true 43 Defense again.

Rational me:

When you're bad or average these things just happen. Truly a bucket with many holes.
- penalties and discipline
- inaccurate QB
- questionable OC
- defense suddenly being exposed on the back end when we haven't been able to stop the run all season.
- emotional HC decisions
- WRs running bad routes

Could probably go on, but it's a LOT of things going on with the team it seems. Things that will keep us from being a serious contender.

Fan me:

We'll fix it.
--------
One of these is probably worse than the other.

Not only that, but he was here with Parcells, so he got to see what working for Jerry is like, and that was with Jerry being subdued trying to get his new stadium and being subdued by Parcells. So, no, Payton isn't going to coach here. I hate to say this, but Moore is going to be HC as nobody else will agree to do it. I'd take Quinn, and I think he's the right choice, but, after he's snapped up, I think Moore is the next puppet.

he may not come here but this logic is wrong. He already agreed to come here after being here with parcels - in 2019. The trade fell through.

Oh? I didn't know that. Well, maybe he could come. I didn't realise he had interest in 2019.

Yes, he needs to mix things up a bit. Things have gotten a bit stale, and the run defence has gotten exposed.
