Let's make some trades while we still can!

Ratliff is no journeyman? He sure play like one.

Journeymen don't go to 4 pro-bowls or get named first team all-pro once during their careers. Perhaps he isn't the player he once was, but that doesn't mean he has been a journeyman his whole career. Hence he is not a journeyman.

But we weren't complaining when those guys got cut much. This year, guys we really like are going to get cut.

That is great progress, imo.

I am sure lots have gone to the pro bowl and today are just . . . journeymen. Yes, he is NOT the player he once was.

I disagree, you win with depth. Not a pile of draft picks for next year. We've finally got some good players backing up good players. Let's keep it that way.

We'd have to convince the other team that we're not going to cut them. Tell them we don't want to keep X number of whatever position, but we just can't cut so-and-so.

these type of trades won't happen for guys who are expected to be 45-53 on the team. its usually the 20-35 range. most teams like to keep their top 20 players.....

Exactly...this is what got us into some trouble last year...no depth.

A team does not make trades just to make trades, or because they have depth...play for next year because you will lose the guy anyway...that's absurd and not the way to think. If you do..you will always be playing for next year...

And for the thoughts of trading a player that will be cut anyway, so try to get a team to go for it...well for every player we have that you think we can get something for....every other team has those guys too.

So why trade for a Dunbar, when a Dunbar clone will be released somewhere else too....

The LB we drafted in the fiasco draft carolina picked up can not remember his name.

Peterson is also one starting Guard for Detroit last year

And not a single one of them are currently starters, nor would they have seen any playing time in Dallas.

Except for Tom McCann...used to wear his shoes when I was but a tot although I thought it was spelled Thom.

To keep from having to compete with other teams. If you have a good center that you have to cut, but you need a running back, why not trade for that back and not risk losing him in the waiver order process.

How do you know that the Cowboys are not already thinking or looking into that?

You pose a question as if anyone on this board can answer that.

No, the question was my point. I'm suggesting it, not asking "why".

If there were something they could do for you "suggesting it"...I'm sure they have that in mind if the chance is there.

They could offer us Logan Mankins for AOA and we'd just say "no thanks, we're not interested,,we'll just cut him instead".

Why would any teams trade assets away, for players that will get cut anyways?
To avoid losing a player due to waiver rules...

Going to have to cut either Olawale or Dunbar, Holmes or Coale, Hamilton or Lemon or Wilber, etc.

Either make a small trade, or trade a Felix or Connor for a like name if you think the younger guys can give you what you need this year.

Lots of decisions going on today.

Jerry says were good
