I'm not a huge fan of Johnny the football player, but for people concerned about his character...I don't get it. So he drinks... and has a good time with friends... what's the problem? Let me know when he gets arrested like the underwear bandit and we might be on to something.

I can also subscribe to this. The guy is in his early 20s. Who in their early 20s didn't party? Grok does the same thing (arguably more often) but that somehow doesn't end up in the papers.

I wanted JFB in the draft but now I'm on the fence. I wouldn't fault Jerry for making his move in the offseason. It's time for a change at QB. Perhaps JFB can embrace the mystique of playing for the Dallas Cowboys and be that guy. I love what Romo has done over the years but it's time. This coaching staff + Romo is not going to get us anywhere. Jerry needs to also consider bringing in a non-Stepford head coach in the offseason as well. His yes guy isn't doing anything to move this franchise forward.

No to Manziel. You're really asking for a circus if he comes to Dallas. He's not a starting NFL QB, his game just doesn't work in this league.

If Dallas wants to take a flyer on a troubled QB, it has to be RG3.

I'm on board with a Manziel trade. I wonder what it would take to get him from Cle? 3rd rd pick? I think he has the tools to be a special player and despite only having a handful of starts so far has already demonstrated some of those tools and that is while playing on a bad team. This would allow us to keep out high 1st rd pick and it has been a while since we have had one as high as this one will be. I like the DB out of Florida State.

I like this philosophy. This is how you build a winning organization.

Heh heh... You know what... You are right.... What am I thinking.... Because this crud is soooooo much better...... Let's keep doing it this way.....TWENTY MORE YEARS!

I hear you guys and agree...

But it probably equates to low risk high reward.
If I were a Cleveland brown I would drink.... Drink more.... Drink ALOT.... and if I didn't drink.... I would start!

I'm not saying it's a good move now... But who knows.... What could it hurt?

With bozos like Hardy and Randle ruining what chemistry we had from last year, it could be the last nail. You just can't expect to fix stupid.

If we trade for Johnny Football instead of drafting a quality QB next April it may be the first time in 27 years that my support for this franchise is thrown into serious doubt. That would be an unforgivable move.

I won't watch the team.

That's the real issue
We will likely end up with a pick that could bring one of the top QB and trading for little Johnny will change that need and prevent us from taking a QB this year. If there is a QB worth taking there this year you have to take him and little Johnny is not worth the distraction or risk that jerry thinks he is the answer
Johnny can play in this league IF he learns to be an nfl QB off the field but there is no sign he has learned that and may never. Just too risky

We already have a circus here and the tent is burning down. The great attraction to Manziel always has been Jerry has shown interest in him and no one else. I would say he is roughly equivalent to Matt Cassel right now, but he should have an upside which could be exploited if he sits on the bench and learns from Tony for a couple years. His value should currently be pretty low, and I would certainly go after him if he could be had cheap - nothing higher than a 4th, and maybe throw in Doug Free. :)

He's had his moments but I think we've seen what Manziel's ceiling is and it's not very high. That's not even factoring in all the off field stuff. I get that there's going to be a lot of off field stuff with a lot of players, but for a QB to have them playing for the most scrutinized team, well that's too much imo.
Fair point, but I trust Calvin Hill and the rest of our player development/support staff more than the garbage Browns'.

I don't even know what bothers people about the off the field stuff. Maybe I missed something. The guy go's to party's? O.k. Is he robbing anyone, beating women? I just don't get it. If I was him I would be partying too. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a great character guy like Staubach but there just aren't a ton of those around anymore. And I'm not just talking about football!

Having a few drinks is fine for most of us.

Promising your employer that you won't have a few drinks, then having a few drinks anyway, then lying about it, then encouraging your friends to help cover up your lies..... well, that's a pretty serious problem. If is foolishly naïve to think that coming to Dallas would all of a sudden make him change his ways.

Oh, not to mention that even if he was 100% clean and sober, he still sucks as a pro QB.

Oh geez. This clown wouldn't be able to stay out of trouble long enough to try and learn how to be a QB. This kid will be out of the league entirely in a couple of years because he's a moron.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I rather have..................(gulp).........................RGIII

I wouldn't want either of them but if I were forced to choose one, then I would take RG3, too...no contest.

He may be a friggin idiot but he is a baby.

Give hm ultimatum. Zero tolerance!

One ***** up of any kind = you are gone!

The flip side has to be very enticing. Be the Aikman after Danny white scenario.
You get to be a Dallas cowboy.

And therein would be the problem with Manziel. He can't handle being a pro QB in Cleveland, Ohio...I can only imagine the mess he would be in Dallas, Texas. He enjoys the spotlight and accolades of being in the pro's too much (although he has accomplished NOTHING at the pro level). He enjoys being the center of attention. He loves the "Johnny Football" persona. Dallas is the very last place that kid needs to be. Add to all of that the media circus that would ensue and you have the recipe for a complete disaster. NO THANK YOU!
