I'm not a huge fan of Johnny the football player, but for people concerned about his character...I don't get it. So he drinks... and has a good time with friends... what's the problem? Let me know when he gets arrested like the underwear bandit and we might be on to something.

The problem with him drinking is that he went to rehab for that very thing. He then promised his coach after being named the starter just before their bye that he would lay low and focus on the coming opponent. So what does he do? Runs on down to Texas and parties it up while mugging for the cameras (and then denies that he did it). How stupid can you be? He surely knew that that stuff would become public, and if he didn't know that, then he's even more stupid than I thought. Manziel got demoted to 3rd string because the Browns organization couldn't trust him. No, he didn't get arrested, but showing that you can't be trusted is at least as bad. He wasn't some UFA defensive back...he was a first round pick QB. He has to be more responsible than appears he is willing to be.

1) He can hit the "NFL-open" receiver.
2) He can run.
3) Sonny Jurgensen and Ken Stabler were lucky Twitter wasn't around in their eras. Heck, young Tom Brady was lucky when he was carrying on with Tara Reid during a Super Bowl run.

Oh, not to mention that even if he was 100% clean and sober, he still sucks as a pro QB.

He has a 90 passer rating in his second year on a team that can't catch the ball.

We need a guy like Dandy Don that never partied or did any of that stuff!

Meredith was 6'-3" and 210 lbs in an era when the offensive and defensive lines weren't that large. He also had a very strong arm. Manziel isn't even 6 ft and has an average arm at best while playing in an era of huge linemen.

Manziel was arrested in college.

Fair point, but I trust Calvin Hill and the rest of our player development/support staff more than the garbage Browns'.

They are a good staff, but why keep taxing them with multiple head cases. They also aren't perfect. There are guys that just won't learn and can't be trusted. Several of those have come and gone through Dallas in the past several years. Joseph Randle is a good example. You can't help those that don't want to change.

He may be a friggin idiot but he is a baby.

Give hm ultimatum. Zero tolerance!

One ***** up of any kind = you are gone!

The flip side has to be very enticing. Be the Aikman after Danny white scenario.
You get to be a Dallas cowboy.

I mean there is sooooo much there.

I don't trust that he can do it.
I also don't trust Garrett, Romo or Jerry so.... Seriously..... What could it hurt?

That and who has ever played well in Cleveland?

Having a few drinks is fine for most of us.

Promising your employer that you won't have a few drinks, then having a few drinks anyway, then lying about it, then encouraging your friends to help cover up your lies..... well, that's a pretty serious problem. If is foolishly naïve to think that coming to Dallas would all of a sudden make him change his ways.

Oh, not to mention that even if he was 100% clean and sober, he still sucks as a pro QB.

And Cleveland is a good measuring tool for a young QB?

You know... Watching his games from this year.. Manziel was not bad at all..

Surprised at the zip he was getting on passes.

He would be a perfect backup type QB here.. I don't know about the baggage though.

It's a lot better of a measuring tool for the professional level than Texas A&M is.

He was a great college QB no doubt, but his skill set just doesn't translate to the pros.

Yes, seriously. Manziel would have been small in Meredith's era of the 1960s. He is especially tiny now. In order to overcome those physical decencies he would need to be a hard, dedicated worker. So far he hasn't shown that he is capable of that type of dedication. Sure Meredith partied, but he had physical skills to fall back on. Physical skills that Manziel lacks. It is weak comparison to say Meredith partying is the same thing as Manziel partying. Meredith brought more to the table as far as physical talent and he also didn't go to rehab.

Because if a team doesn't draft a player with what would have been a high pick it means they'd never think of acquiring that player for next to nothing.

I wouldn't hold your breath. He isn't coming. We could get him for next to nothing for one reason - that describes his play.

You really have to lighten up. I was just comparing Manziel to Meredith as partiers, not players.

I understand you don't like Johnny Football. Quit attacking when their is no need.
