Let's pump the brakes on Irving

Hey he looked great last night. I was happy about that.

It makes me wonder why he hasn't played more but I'm not around there all day every day, so he obviously doesn't flash like that every time.

If he can give us something good every week for the rest of the way I'd be thrilled.

I read last night too that Gregory has officially been allowed to return to practice this week? Maybe his fresh legs will give them some small boost. I don't know. I doubt it but it's another fresh set of legs to rush with.

I don't know if anyone is calling him a pro bowl DE yet, but he has the talent to reach that level. The main reason to be excited is because Dallas is actually looking like they have enough talent and production on the Dline to not be a fatal flaw in the playoffs. Everyone remembers 2014, and this defense is not close to that level of weakness.

you can pump the brakes... if u want to.. me on the other hand

While I agree he dominates the game last night and deserves a lot of credit in the win, his play is too inconsistent for me to anoint him the "Pass Rusher Supreme" just yet.

I hope he builds on this game, especially this time of year. Man it would be awesome if one of the DL, or the whole DL TBH, caught fire right before the playoffs. Irving just hasn't been the consistent threat we need yet. His good games are random right now, but I truly hope he turns the corner.

CRAP!

I was all fired up this morning ready to wear my "Pass Rusher Supreme" T-shirt

please let us know when we have the green light

ty!

Coaches say he's immature, which is why he doesn't play more.

Well he still shows more promise and wreaks more havoc than any of our "mature" DLineman. Even if he makes mistakes, at least we have the possibility of a game-changing play with Irving. We all know what Crawford and Lawrence have done with lots of playing time...

He's looked great almost the entire season. A friend of mine who is not a Cowboys fan was asking me why he doesn't play more and I had no answer for him.

I think the team thinks he's best at 20-25 snaps per game and if he played 40 snaps he wouldn't be very effective. So I think there's a perceived conditioning issue with him. However, he hasn't been inconsistent this year at all. He's been excellent almost every game. He should have been getting the money that Crawford is getting. He reminds me a lot of Crawford in 2014, except he's a far better tackler than Crawford.

As long as we're being "realistic" about Irving, let's also consider that he's still in his infancy at his position. With more experience, he might stand a fighting chance to continue his development in impressive fashion. He's making enough good plays to deserve much more action, imho.

wow.

it seems like every time someone has a great game, someone has to come out and dog on them.

I may be wrong, but it seemed like Irving usually is playing DT inside, and was only playing LDE because of Demarcus Lawrence being out of the game. Maybe that spot is just a better fit for him, and we need to find ways to let him rush from there more. He was doing some mean things to the RT and RBs that tried to block him.

Agree. Always seems that he's been more disruptive outside although they seem to want to keep him on the interior.

Collins seemed good last night as well.

If he can be consistent, we could get some solid, consistent play out of Irving, and maybe Gregory give us just a little something then this D could be getting some pieces together here at just the right time.

If Mo comes back healthy and plays like he was earlier in the year that would also be a big boost.

I would alternate him in the second and fourth quarters and give him one job...destroy.
