Don't think anyone blames Jerry for players not performing. More that they blame Jerry for paying players who don't perform. Leaving certain areas of the team in shambles (OL) for almost a decade comes to mind as well.
Wait, wasn't Bill Parcells around for like a negotiated contract for five years? All credit for the large number of good players has been allocated to him...not Jerry. Point One.
What's the excuse line here?
Point Two, the team also had a pretty fair line at one point not long ago:
Flozell Adams, Kyle Kosier (with fresh legs), Andre Gurode (before his legs went out), Leonard Davis (still mobile, and hostile), and Marc Colombo (able to deliver a blow to anyone)
Only burma would state that was a poor line, and then turn around and give Bill Parcells full credit for it.
Point Three, your line of reasoning has now been disproven...as to NO quality in the offensive line.
Point Four, that entire line got old at about the same time...within a three year period of time.
That required a transition, due to the player needs, lockout, and additional fines by the NFL this season, i.e. cap limitations with the other positional needs.
Point Five, unless one's memory is borderline senile, the 2011 draft WAS a heavy offensive line draft. Smith, Arkin, and Nagy were all selected during that draft.
Smith has, similar to DeMarcus Ware, Hall of Fame talent. Wait, what coach gets credit for him?
Point Six, it doesn't matter who....WHO GETS the credit for a player. That is a convenience to say arguments without considerations of trends and real field problems. That amounts to excuse hunting to pad someone's mood and own angers.
Point Seven, the team has accumulated quite a listing of very strong players:
Tony Romo
Dez Bryant
Miles Austin
Jason Witten
Demarcus Murray
Tyron Smith
Brandon Carr
Morris Claiborne
Sean Lee
Jay Ratliff
That's a hell of a group of 'star' players...ooops, where WAS my head at?
Maybe the hate attitude is the real way to go, and Jerry JUST goes for the star and the expense at all other positions.
Except for the two 'ugglies' on the list, Smith and Ratliff, I see the truth now, heck, being Jerry, he should rush off and trade for all interior linemen for both sides of the ball.
I get it now, Jerry should JUST drop all in the 2011 and 2012 drafts, and demand from the NFL that a redraft HAS to be conducted for HIS team. The fans for the Cowboys have 'revolted' and they MUST be quieted. The smell of tar and feathers is getting atrocious. The burn barrel's smoke is choking.
They have now determined there has been no credable people taken on the offensive line and they want to tar and feather Jerry, and anyone showing actual logic as to issues.
Never mind that Dallas has done due dilligence, even with Practice Squad additions, and developed a long and continuous source of NFL productive players from their own non-drafted source. This list including: Tony Romo, Miles Austin, Stephen Bowen, Kevin Kowalski, Phil Costa, and Jermey Parnell.
Wait - Costa, Kowalski, and Parnell all come from that lowly, ingenious source.
Instead of starting off three years ago, and adding 'star' players in Dez Bryant, Sean Lee, and Murray. Follow that with an offensive lineman draft in 2011, which included Bruce Carter. And then the 2012, focused on developing up a disfunctional defense with strong contributors. Even adding a WR Choate, and TE Hanna as well.
Yea, rush out to the crapper and yell at Jerry to quit being all full of himself...
I can see the 'real' genius here, you want Jerry to now, do what all of you loathe, and make some changes...go it.
I compose a memo right now, and send it to Jerry personally:
Dear, not so Sir,
We have observed the cause of your crotch itch. You have accumulated too many stars in your boxers. We are TIRED of this. What we TRUELY want is a lot of STAR linemen....really ATTRACTIVE BIG UGLIES!
We hereby authorize and demand, that you herewith trade off Romo, Austin, Bryant, Murray, Ware (since Parcells didn't want 'em), and throw in the entire 2011 draft for good measure.
We want a world class offensive line of OUR choosing: to wit, DeCastro, and all the guards and centers we have targeted over the past three seasons and not acquired. And don't dare forget the Saints All World guard that did NOT become a Cowboy. Oh, and you might throw in an All Pro and over-the-hill guard that is being paid QB money to boot. OH, and just tell Stephen to HANDLE IT!
We have decided that your attachment for stars is lame, and all that YOU need, are a whole squad of 'ugglies.'
There, you have the truth of it. As it is written, so let it be.
OH, and don't forget we have the burn barrels FIRED UP NOW!
Signed,
YOUR LOYAL FANS!!!
p.s. Have you ever considered stepping down....from a walk plank?
