QB- Won't Take
RB- Won't take
WR- Williams, Davis, Ross
TE- Howard, Njoku, Engram
OT- Ramczky, Bolles, Robinson
OG- won't take
C- Won't take

DE- Garrett, Barnett, Taco, Harris, Takk, Watt, Lawson
DT- Brantley
LB- Foster, Reddick, Cunningham
CB- Lattimore, Humphrey, Conley, Tre White
S- Adams, Hooker, Peppers

Now let's eliminate the obvious that will go before 28: all 3 WR's, Howard, Ramczky, Bolles, Garrett, Barnett, Foster, Reddick, Lattimore, Humphrey, Adams, Hooker, and Peppers. Plus I'll say 3 QB's and 3 RB's bringing the total to only 21.

That leaves Engram, Robinson, Taco, Harris, Takk, Watt, Lawson, Brantley, Cunningham, Conley, White left with still 7 more players to go off the board.
Now let's eliminate the most likely to go out of those: Robinson, Taco, Harris, Cunningham, Conley + I'll say a 4th QB goes to be generous

That leaves us choosing from: Engram, Takk, Watt, Lawson, Brantley, White? And then maybe Obi, Adoree, Tankersley, Willis....

So I guess the moral of what I'm getting at is...anybody else worried? I know it's the end of the 1st round, but those names just aren't very enticing to me.

Am I missing anyone? Anybody disagree strongly with any of the 27 I projected to go before us? This 1st round just doesn't go 28 deep in my opinion, trade down really seems like best case scenario to maximize this drafts depth in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

We know that in previous years the Cowboys have ranked far fewer than 28 players as first rounders. It is often a number in the teens. You either take someone ranked in the second round, or you wait and hope that some other team wants to trade up for a particular player.

In the past couple of years it seems that the Cowboys had trade possibilities worked out with other teams, but had the other teams decide not to go through with it at the last moment. Leaving the Cowboys to try to work up a trade with little time left on the clock, or just take a pick from what was available. Of course, to get someone chomping at the bit to trade up, you have to count on another team's analysis of draft value at 28.

Like the approach but I am not certain we wouldn't take Lamp if he was available if defense and other top players are wiped out. I think OG is not off the board.

Like every draft when the Cowboys pick in the late teens and 20s, the final handful of picks beforehand will be like punches to the gut as the last of a tier of talent goes away and an increasing cry to trade down echoes throughout the forum.

I wouldn't rule out OG. I can see a scenario where we like the guards better than the tackles and we have a couple of guards that could move if necessary.

I don't think this will happen but I wouldn't rule it out. I could easily see Jerry saying, we were looking to finalize the offensive line and thought the no 1 guard on the board was better than the no 3 tackle etc.

They could be. I have Conley on my 1st round list and Willis on my 2nd round list. I took Obi off because he plays soft at times and slow to react. I took Moreau off for playing soft and injury.

I think u r right in terms of who might be on the board. But u have to remember that teams draft players that they know will fit their system. Their will be some picks that won't make sense to us but teams will still pick them. It's that old sayn u can't have 6 wr so some players will drop because teams will want to fill their depth charts. As for who I think will be on the board. Maybe a OG or a TE or maybe a FS

You're missing Malik McDowell, Solomon Thomas and Jonathan Allen to begin with. Those guys are going before 28. Also on your list of those likely to be taken after your initial grouping you have Njoku missing from there and those available. And imo, you can scratch Engram right off the list of players the Cowboys would take. He's a glorified WR in a semi TE body. He's not blocking and would never even see the field here.

Back on topic, out of these 5(Robinson, Taco, Harris, Cunningham, Conley), only 2 of those will be gone if you add Thomas, McDowell and Allen to the list. You can either add Njoku to the list as well, or have 4 of those above available. For arguments sake, let's say Njoku and Robinson go before 28 along with those you listed and McDowell, Thomas and Allen. That leaves

Takk, Taco, Harris, Cunningham, Conley, Watt, Brantley and Lawson. And of course it's never as simple as it appears. Somebody or multiple somebody's will go before 28 that nobody expects. As is, that's not a bad list of players to be picking from at 28.

Don't know how I forgot Allen and Thomas...guess that does make me feel a little better. I could live with a choice between Taco, Harris, and Conley

That's exactly the choice I think we'll face.

Perhaps a late riser (Josh Jones? Bowser?) will make their way into discussion

I feel Conley will go well before us because of some CB injuries. It will come down to Harris or Takk unless Njoku drops to us.

While I don't necessarily think it has to be Conley, I agree that it seems pretty unlikely only 2 CB's go in the top 27. Conley does seem the most likely to go 3rd, but I could see a team liking Teez, Adoree, or even White over him.

Engram is not a realistic choice for Dallas IMO. Great prospect but not what this staff looks for in a TE. Obi would feel like a vintage Jerry willy-nilly pick.

One thing I'll say is there are probably 2-3 players who go before 28 nobody really predicted. Seems to happen every year. So that will help.

If you believe the buzz, Conley won't be there at 28. Riding into the middle of round 1.
