Much has been made about Romo of late. He catching a lot of heat from some. But is it warranted? Let's take a look at some of the other top QBs in the NFL some have mentioned, and compare:

Name TDs Ints Yards Rating

Roethlisberger 17 14 3193 80.8

Brees 30 16 4683 95.5

Warner 26 13 4320 95.5

Cutler 24 16 4210 87.0

Rivers 32 11 3802 104.0

Cassel 21 11 3615 89.1

P. Manning 26 12 3907 93.8

M. Ryan 15 7 3280 89.7

And Romo? Even missing a few games this year?

Romo 26 13 3265 94.8

There you have it. Even missing a few games, and playing injured much of the year, Romo, is STILL among the elite QBs in the NFL.

Say what you want, but, it is what it is.

Go Cowboys!!!

Its said to say but in todays NFL its all about stats. Whats the quote (WE PLAY TO WIN THE GAME)? Its all about win's and losses my man. And in todays NFL, thats the only stat that really matter's to most of us fans! Again dare i say Danny White, oh but wait he won a few playoff games.

There's no question that he's one of the best QBs in the league. He just makes dumb mistakes sometimes. He needs a good coach who can help him control that.

I'm driving the Holmgren bandwagon for that very reason.

I'm not going to sit here and waste my time, anguing this point.

We have an elite, warrior QB. Just because he can't put this whole suck #$% under achieving team on his shoulders, while he injured on top of it, and WILL them to win week in and week out, doesn't mean HE sucks.

Even Troy Aikman said that he (Troy) was really not that good a QB as to be in the HOF. That it was more about having a great O line, great WR to throw to, and an outstanding running game to help him out. If not for that, he wouldn't even be SMELLING the HOF.

Instead, what WE have, at least right now, is Romo, MAYBE Witten, and everybody else is either injured, or pretty much well is stinking up the joint right now.

The only reason we are even CLOSE to the Playoffs. Is because of Romo.

And to tell you the truth, I'm getting sick of folks bashing him, just because they NEED someone to bash.

I'm &^*^%$& out of here.

Go Cowboys!!!

Romo played to win the game last Sunday. He had a bad first half, but he rallied, and we were in great position to put the Ravens out. Then, the record-setting runs happened.

So, when you're looking at how an individual is playing, it doesn't do tons of good to evaluate them on a team basis. Romo has had some rocky play, and just doesn't look comfortable. But he's done alot to get us to where we are - more than any other player, IMO.

Blindness is created by statistics. The elite QBs in the NFL are CLUTCH. Romo has had his clutch moments in such few starts, but he has also had his lion's share of boneheaded plays at the worst point in the game.

Don't get me wrong. I like the guy and I hope he learns to control his penchant for "punting" the ball, but throwing stats around don't tell the whole story.

He's one of the best, no doubt in my mind.

He hasn't played even nearly his best football this season though, he looks off for some reason.. and even then his stats (other than yardage because of missed games) mirror Kurt Warner's stats... and he is having his best year in a long time with MVP consideration.

Romo is a star and will be for a long time to come.

no I dont have excuses for romo.

Watch the games and you will see. Sometimes he makes mistakes and alot of the time he takes the blame for others mistakes.

like saturday night. On an option play he threw a perfect pitch to choice, choice fumbled it out of bounds, guess who got the fumble? Romo.

So when stats guys look at the stats, they will say look he has this many fumbles etc etc...

same thing with the giants game last week. Gurode snapped the ball too soon the only one who knew it were gurode and romo....Romo did all he could not to fumble that and get it out of the endzone....but with three guys jumping on him instantly he gets the blame again, and it is misplaced. And another fumble goes down in the books for romo.....even though he was essentially a tackling dummy because of another players mistake.

I love Romo (especially if he gets his head on straight)

BUT, stats don't make a great QB, they only make a good one. Great QBs will their team to win. Sometimes he (Romo) does.... sometimes he doesn't.

This is true, but it's also true that Romo makes major mistakes too. Both interceptions were not just a guy trying to make a play that didn't happen, but horrible blunders that NEVER should have even been possible. Especially if TO is the target. He has shown at least a half a dozen times this year that he *won't* fight to disrupt an interception. (look at the (2) INTs in the Steelers game that were throws to him)

Really? Because he was able to stop Favre from making gunslinger mistakes? Oh, wait, no he didn't.

I'm just ribbing on you there, cause I have nothing against Mike or anything, but this notion that he's going to some how stop Romo from making mistakes doesn't make sense to me.

As for the list it's funny that Tony makes dumb mistakes but I don't see anyone saying Big Ben, or Peyton, or Warner, or Brees just make dumb mistakes and should be replaced by their teams despite having as many, or more, INTs than Romo.

Mistakes happen to every QB and they happen almost every single week. It's the nature of the game because defenses are so good.

But, yeah, lets just get rid of Romo. He's horrible. No way he's ever going to do anything in this league.

He didn't stop him, but he curbed it enough to win a Superbowl!

Dan Marino must have really sucked then. Y.A. Tittle, Sonny Jurgensen, Warren Moon, Don Meredith, etc. If you don't win the big one then you suck according to your logic.

Peyton Manning sucked until a couple of years ago I guess.

It is a TEAM sport and defense wins championships, not QBs. Ou defense has continually let us down in big games even when our QB has brought us back (see the Seahawks 06, Giants 07 & Ravens games for examples).

By my stats comparison (which takes win/loss % & fumbles lost into account) Romo is 3rd in the league this year behind Rivers & Peyton Manning.

Also, I see people here constantly whining about his "mistakes" and turnovers. I listed the QBs who were tops in not turning the ball over and they were also near the bottom in making big plays. You can't have both, either you have a guy who makes big plays but turns the ball over some or you have a guy who doesn't turn the ball over but also doesn't make big plays for you. Take your pick.

Face it, Romo is an elite QB and we are extremely fortunate to have him. When the rest of the team can play a full 60 minutes we will start to win some big games.

Sadly around these parts that simply won't be good enough. Even if they won a Superbowl you'd have the people who would continue to complain because he didn't lead them to 3 or 4.

I stopped reading at the bold part of your statement, because I know whats coming. An irrelavant argument. Why? You just highjacked what I said to suit your feelings. I NEVER said they (or any prolific QB) sucked, but you just implied that I did. A lie. That makes your argument irrelavant.

They could win 3-4 and someone around here would find something to complain about. Hell, I'm sure I could find something! :laugh2:
