There is good and bad when it comes to Dak, and there is probably more good than bad. But let's talk about the rubber meeting the road with him. He must have an above average line in front of him to be successful. That takes him out of the elite category by itself.
His pocket awareness and ball security inside the pocket are both below average. I am not sure that is going to improve much.
He also has a tendency to over throw open receivers on the deep ball, especially Gallup. That's points left off the board.
Dak has proven to be a winner, but all of the forgoing SIGNIFiCANTLY limit his value and upside. If we are going to keep Dak around, then we must ensure that the OL remains a priority. He also needs a stud RB so we better find an acceptable backup for Zeke.
All of the above need to be seriously considered when Dak gets his next contract. We also need to be looking for a backup that may eventually supplant Dak if these factors don't improve over time.
Keep an eye out for Carr if he gets cut by the Raiders, as no one is taking on that contract. He was playing at a pro bowl level and the Raiders sucked the life out of him just like it did Amari. He may still have some life left in him too.
Man what I wouldn't give to see this team with Kyler Murray on it.
